I like it that candidates are traveling to cities on the high Great Plains to address issues with voters, make appearances, and so forth. Something very refreshing and sustaining about that.

If they're lucky they may even get to meet Brian Schweitzer's dog.

I like that dog.

I like its owner, too.

I like Howard Dean's notion of a 50-state presence because it lends attention to the forgotten clear-headed progressives out in these Plains states that the party has so long neglected.

It feels as if we acknowledge the uphill climb for the general but nevertheless like we're fighting to lay claim to issues and putting the before those states' voters' consideration.

Democrats meet in Denver this summer to nominate the 44th president. Inspired choice for venues.
