Can you believe a "Black guy with a funny name" BEAT the CLINTONS and their MACHINE?
It's hard to even wrap my mind around it sometimes so I can just imagine how shocked the Clintons and her supporters are. They thought they had this thing won for sure! Remember this?:

"So from my perspective, you get up every day and you get out there and you make your case and you reach as many people as possible. That's what I intend to do, so I'm in it for the long run. It's not a very long run. It'll be over by February 5th."

Or this?:

COURIC TO CLINTON: If it's not you, how disappointed will you be?

HILLARY CLINTON: Well, it will be me.

Now that Obama is the all-but-certain nominee, Hillary's blaming sexism and unfair treatment when she has no-one to blame but herself. Obama ran an outstanding campaign and will be an outstanding president.

As your post stands, it's bait. Again...I don't really like your candidate, or their candidate and have decided to focus on local election. Maybe a break and enjoy Memorial Day...and remember somebody...instead of doing this, and then labeling it something that it truly isn't. Peace.

I just want this board to calm down...and/or go away. :hi:

On edit: I quote you: " I can just imagine how shocked the Clintons and her supporters are. They thought they had this thing won for sure!" Surely doesn't so much like "pride" as it does "bait".

22. I don't care whether you believe me or not. Calling Hillary supporters "supporters"
is the respectable thing to do. If I had called them "Hillaryites" or "Hillbots" like some do, I'd see your point. But I didn't. Please don't tell me what I should do. I am doing what I love to do. :hi:

it isn't allowed anymore. If you post pride in your candidate...good on you... If you love doing this, well (IMO) that's just sad and not something I would want to be proud of.

44. I am here because I am a democrat. Allowed to be here.
This forum is out of control with baiting and ridiculous childish behavior. Things are quite a bit better for me in that I don't feel the need to bait the supporters of a candidate I don't particularly care for. Please reread your words and then be honest with yourself. If you're not willing to do that, then I guess there is really no hope in trying to reason with that which is, by its very nature unreasonable.

I am off to sit in the sun and remember for awhile. I suggest you try it. :hi:

I've got some hamburgers half done on the grill and you are welcome to one...just leave the anger and baiting behind. This weekend is for remembering either those we have loved and lost...or those lost in war...whomever you wish to remember... not for hiding under the guise of "pride". If you had gone back and removed the "supporters" comment, you'd have me on your side.

here is a thread which truly exhibits pride for the candidate...instead of hatred for the 'supporters'

9. When people attack Obama for not closing the deal..I think about this...
Barack Obama has done the near impossible against incredible odds. To be on the verge of defeating and overthrowing Hillary, Bill, Terry and all the rest--and the formidible political establishment machine they had built...

To do this is a miracle. Hillary's campaign being run into the ground helped--but it was still a miracle.

I am proud of this country in a way that I have never before been so proud--and I agree with Michelle Obama on that.

Edited on Sun May-25-08 01:32 PM by NJSecularist
Blacks are a significant part of the electorate in the Democratic party. After 90% black support, all you need is some token white support, rack up margin in sham low turnout caucus states... and then you are the nominee.

Obama did not have 100 or 90% of the black vote at the start of this race.He did'nt have my family's support. We supported Edwards.OMG a white man had the support from the black community. We liked what he had to say and then he bowed out.I took a break from this race because I did'nt like Clinton nor Obama but as the race went on Clinton made an honest ass out of self with the "I have the white vote" response. And that pissed me off.It was as if that was the only group she cared about. So if anything she led more and more people to Obama with her stupid ass remarks.

This race card thing is old and I call goldfish.See you in November.

53. He is a remarkable candidate and deserves great respect; also, tens of
millions of voters, volunteers and donors deserve some credit, I think. I really feel America as a group has rallied in a time of need.

55. I agree. The people who stepped up to the plate deserve lots of credit, too. I remember
when the Clinton camp ridiculed Obama's young voters as "looking like facebook" and claiming they'll never vote anyway.

56. Its simple..If she voted against the war or apologized for the vote she would be the nominee
Edited on Sun May-25-08 02:17 PM by cbc5g
Primaries are where the enthused base comes out. The enthused base HATES and DOESNT SUPPORT this war that Hillary supported, voted for and WONT APOLOGIZE FOR VOTING FOR.

Her vote for the war gave an opportunity for a change candidate who was against the war to win.

58. The GE will tell us what it means.
Edited on Sun May-25-08 02:20 PM by gulliver
If Obama wins the GE, then he beat the Clintons and McCain. If Obama loses, then the Dem primary process is broken. The obvious conclusion would be that the Dem process actually chooses losers.

Basically, both the Obama and Clinton candidacies are bounds condition candidacies. Bush put Republicans in such a pickle that we think we might as well run the first black or first woman. We can "afford it," we think. This is how one ends up with a lifelong credit card balance. Our process optimizes not for victory or results but for maximum feel good constrained by an overly optimistic assessment of the danger and cost of losing.

I don't see why Obama would not beat McCain in the current climate, BTW, but the American voter is fickle.

62. But my point is that Obama beat the Clintons. Regardless of what happens in the GE, this was a
great accomplishment ALREADY. I think beating the Clinton machine was the HARD part. But we'll see.

and that's the real story here.

They prepared to run against Edwards but not Obama. Too bad they can't lose gracefully.

74. As long as the Clinton machine is still running, there could still be surprises ahead.
She is becoming more and more desperate and with her recent behavior , I actually expect some dramatic, extreme and possibly effective effort right at the end.

Don't underestimate them.

It's not over till the blond lady slings.

81. Obama supporters only have Wright when talking about media bias
Meanwhile, if you are Hillary, you have:

-The media mocking her tears in NH.
-The media (several pundits) calling for her to withdraw.
-The media relentlessly attacking her for the RFK "assassination" remarks.
-The NY Times editorial board and columnists with the exception of Krugman pounding her on a daily basis. Brooks and Kristol started attacking Obama when he had secured the nomination.
-MSNBC having Matthews, Olbermann and Shuster attack Clinton with sexist remarks and taking sides for Obama.
-SNL seeing media bias.
-Howard Kurtz seeing media bias against her.
-Byron York seeing media bias against her.
-Peggy Noonan giving up her role as wingnut to trash Hillary on a weekly basis.
-The media pretending her "LBJ/MLK" comments were racist.

Etcetera, Etcetera, etcetera.

And all you have is a flag pin and the only issue where Obama was relentlessly attacked, which was Wright?

79. Did you remind the media of this after or before they pastorbated for
like a whole month with a week off.

Did you at least hand them a towel?

I was passing Fox today, and heard them make up excuses as to why Hillary was perfectly legitimate in using Assassination to mark a timeline that had absolutely not comparables with the case that she was making.

Or about the time that the only way they could categorize voters was based on their skin tone and gender?

Or about the time that they dare bring up fingergate, snubgate, bowlgate, Michelle hates her country gate, or Flagpin gate, or Farrakahn gate, or retzo gate, or cultgate, or bittergate, Muslimgarbgate......etc, etc, etc...
