Cool thing my 17 year old said slamming the GOP

Normally I don't go in for my kids insulting anyone- however this one made me grin.

Went to a friends house yesterday for Dad's day BBQ and swimming. 17 year old comes on the deck and does the teen flop in the lawn chair.

We are talking Politics, the couple we are visiting- Hubby: Reformed like me Wife: Dem

The term GOP was thrown out in the conversation, my son sits up and asks "What does GOP stand for?" I reply "Grand Old Party" he actually SNORTS and goes "Nothing GRAND about it Mama, they need to change the name to Garbage Out Party- because that's exactly what we need to do. Throw them out!"

He then gets up, and takes a running dive into the pool.

Not really funny, but really really cool :)

Just wanted to share.

it became clear to me that my little babyis normal, and did not turn out as to be a reptilian-brained Freeptard. You probably had a sigh of relief, almost like his first baby steps, that everything is okay and his thinking skills are not deformed.

You can also probably safely assume your son is not the next Billy Kristol of Fox News. That alone should make a Mom proud.

5. You're right-

I'm actually pretty darn happy (and relieved) that my kids think for themselves.

You would be amazed at how many people have looked at me in shock when I encourage them to debate me, to talk their point before fully accepting.

I'm very very proud of my kids. :)
