What would be wrong with Gore being VP again?
Gore may not want to do it but if he did I believe he has unfinished business with the GOP over the 2000 elections. He would be a great help to Obama because of his experience - he knows the ropes and he is from the SOUTH. I don't think he would overshadow Obama as he would be complementary. I think most Democrats and independents would like Gore. He would take some of the Greens & Nader voters maybe. Gore would be able to push his environmental agenda from a more powerful position. You can have change with someone who wants save the earth and the economy.

1. Frankly, he has greater gravitas than Obama.
And a Presidential candidate will almost never pick a VP who seems like they may be better suited for the Presidency than themselves.

2. He would make a great VP...but he is going wonderful things in the world
right now. We need him where he is.

4. He is the president, not the vice president.
The only possible reason for him to go back to the WH would be to do the job, and hold the position, that we elected him to do in 2000.

He is senior to Obama in service and experience. Why would we put him in a "runner-up" position?

If he decided to run for president, he'd have my vote. Since he didn't, he is benefitting the nation and the planet right now, without any demotions.

6. I don't think it is runner up
as VP you have a large amount of power as we have seen with old man Cheney. I'm sure Gore would do it the right way though.

9. How much power the VP has depends on how much
the president bestows. Both Cheney and Gore had more than usual amounts of power.

That doesn't negate the fact that Gore is senior to Obama in both service and experience, and shouldn't be in the #2 spot.

5. From the standpoint of his virtues against the backdrop of what we
need as a country, there isn't a damn thing wrong with it.

I don't know if he wants the job and I don't know if he'd take it if asked.

But virtues against background of national needs -- you bet, he's the bee's knees.

And that is why it will never happen.

8. Gore is perfectly qualified, but is there anyone EQUALLY (or moreso) who'd more BOOST the ticket ...
electorally? I think yes -- a woman who NEVER supported the Iraq War Resolution, such as the highly qualified CA Sen Barbara Boxer. The has something Gore doesn't -- lack of charisma DEFICIENCY, as well as possibly helping Obama carry Florida and some other states. Other women who also never supported IWR would also boost the ticket, and then there's eg Bob Graham, who could put Florida into the Obama camp if Pawlenty peels of MN for McCain.

In short, there's nothing WRONG with Gore -- but I think that Obama could find someone with more electoral boost, who is highly qualified (as Gore most certainly is).

13. Been there, done that - he's on to WAY bigger things...
But I have no doubt that Al Gore will serve as one of President Obama's most important advisers.

15. I'm convinced that if he wanted to be in Gov't again he'd run for president -
when he decided not to do it I knew he had lost interest. He's doing things he considers more important now and I can't blame him for that. I'm still a huge fan of the man.

16. Gore is great and would be good, but being from the SOUTH didn't help in 2000
he didn't even win his own state.

17. Nothing's wrong with it
it would just never happen. I think if Obama came to Gore and sincerely asked for him to be VP, I doubt Gore would turn it down, especially if Obama gave him control over energy policy. But I don't think Obama will ask him. The media won't attack Gore if he were VP nom though, because they already fucked him over in 2000 and look at the wonderful result of that.
