Just how clever is this Barack Obama fellow ??
Barack Obama announces today that he may hold the last day of the Convention in the expansive Invesco Field, home of the Denver Broncos. This was big news. The media jumped all over it! Unfortunately for John McCain, today was his scheduled economic speech in Denver. He got second billing to the Obama story. :-)

Also, the rumor starts today that John Kerry may be Obama's VP pick? The rumor started in DC and everybody knows how hard it is to keep a secret in DC. Since he's going to have a fundraiser with Hillary and Bill in the next few days, this should fuel a lot of speculation and press attention until the fundraiser is over? Free media! The best kind! :-)

I think the long primary with Hillary helped him immensely.

1. He's smarter than John McCain.
He should announce his VP pick. Get all the media, then when McCain make his pick, pull another distraction.

2. I think he is very clever. I think those that advise him are also very clever.
I think he has learned from Dem losses in the past and from the the repuke strategies. He was at the top of his Harvard Law School class. You bet he is clever. But more than just clever, he is intelligent, and I believe, wise.

4. I just saw video of Sen Obama speaking earlier today.......
and I noticed several dozen strands of gray hair on his head. Don't get me wrong, gray hair is cool, it makes you look wiser and sexier. I have several dozen gray hairs myself.

I just wonder if he suddenly grew these gray hairs or if he just stopped coloring his hair. Does anybody here follow him closely enough to know?

5. There was an article on yahoo this morning about it
and, if memory serves, Obama said that the grey came on only recently.

Here's the link and some of the text:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080703/pl_politico/11520_3

By his own admission this week, “the gray is coming quick,” so that it now dusts his head like snowflakes. The laugh lines cut a little deeper, and the crow's-feet around his eyes appear slightly more pronounced.

The presidency ages presidents, but so, it seems, has the longest campaign in modern history aged a candidate.

“By the time I’m sworn in, I will look the part,” Obama acknowledged to donors Wednesday in Colorado Springs, Colo., one month before his 47th birthday.

He confirmed what has been whispered for months among political insiders and raised in reader e-mails to journalists who cover him closely: Similar to President Bush and former President Bill Clinton, who came into office with far less gray hair and wrinkles than when they prepared to exit, Obama is already developing the presidential patina, a weathered look that builds after months of sleepless nights and stress.

7. remember him giving away free tickets to a rock concert on a campus the same day Bill was speaking?
he took some grief for that move when he did it against a fellow Dem, but now we all love it when he pulls the same kinda thing on McCain

gotta love it

(I think it was Dave Matthews but I honestly don't remember)
