Obama's trip a photo op...?
“This is nothing more than a campaign stop and a photo op for Barack Obama to highlight his candidacy for president”

McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds

SAY WHAT...?

Wasn't it McCain who went there for his own little photo op not to long ago...? Tried to show us how peachy everything was going...?

Give me a break...

6. Yes, McCain had his photo ops in Iraq last March with Joe Lieberman
Where Lieberman had to correct him multiple times in front of the cameras on factual errors.

8. Of course Obama's trip is a photo op.
He is running for the office of president of the US and he wants to get elected. He also is trying to show people that he is not an idiot like Bush. Obama will work with other nations and hopefully get their support when needed. It should not take a genius to figure this out.

9. I'm loving watching the right wing
go apeshit about this trip. First they bitch he's never gone, now they bitch that he's going. They know Sen Obama is going to be speaking in front of many, many people who really hope he's elected. They know he'll get a standing O from the the soldiers, marines, etc. It's making them want to tear out their hair and I'm loving it.

10. All trips by politicians going to Iraq are Photo Ops. Don't kid yourself
Meetings can be held out of the country. The politicians never see the real Iraq, they see little bits the Administration agrees to show them.

Obama would have been better served to meet with the leaders of Iraq outside of the country. For his safety and the safety of those around him.

Just my 2 cents.

13. Interesting related quote from Reed
Edited on Fri Jul-18-08 11:40 AM by Inuca
But this, Reed has promised, will not be the typical, carefully stage-managed view that visiting digniaries usually get in Iraq and Afghanistan; nor will it merely echo the kind of briefings that lawmakers can get back in Washington from top Pentagon officials and commanders. The goal, he told MSNBC, is "to get down to the brigade combat teams. It's to get out and talk to troops. It's to get out and talk to the advisers, the embedded special forces and SEALs. That's what's critical, I think, and it's what we hope to accomplish on the trip. It provides some more context, a better sense of what's going on."

So I guess there are photo ops and then there are photo ops... :-)
