1. He should release a whole slew of them in October, to compensate for the Wright ads.
You know they're coming. That way while McCain is talking about Obama's pastor Obama can negatively and directly define McCain.

34. Makes me want to start a 527.
Just to be brutal. Run my own show, say I'm Captain Angry and I approve this message... anybody who choses a political candidate solely on the basis of their pastor, or lack thereof, is a douchebag.

And then put Hagee up there. Robertson, and the other pretenders who claim to be pious but are MILLIONAIRES. How can you be wealthy when the money from your church is supposed to help the poor and the hungry? Oh, right, when you're not a church. You're a tax-exempt entertainment company.

EDIT: For the google-challenged:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/20/moveon-to-close-its-527-i_n_108300.html

"MoveOn, the advocacy group supporting Barack Obama, has decided to permanently shutter its 527 operation, partly in response to the Illinois Senator's insistence that such groups should not spend on his behalf during the general election, I've learned from the group's spokesperson."

Edited on Thu Jul-24-08 09:09 PM by Azathoth
The Obama campaign is openly asking/pressuring Dem 527 groups to shut down and/or not run ads on its behalf during the election. MoveOn and a few others have already agreed to do so. Try to keep up.

Small groups will obviously still be around, but they ain't gonna get far without big donors.

Edited on Thu Jul-24-08 06:21 PM by CrownPrinceBandar
I was thinking today, while watching his speech in Berlin, how positive and hopeful he's keeping his message, even in his ads. McLame, OTOH, is turning into a one-man slime machine. Its no wonder why the rest of the world has seemed to take to Sen. Obama so well.

Dogdamn me, I'm starting to feel a glimmer of hope.

closing the gap. Because they don't have ads out there pushing the McCain-Bush connection enough. Hopefully they have some ready when he comes back

if his campaign reprises Kerry/Gore/Dukakis games.

He should keep with his "Change" mantra and fore go making any negative ads.

All is fair in a debate but he should stay positive on the air.

That "Change Mantra" could bite him in the ass then. He wouldn't really be changing Washington then if he did the same ole, same ole.

He didn't do well responding to them and calling Bush out since they were funded by Bush people (including T Boone Pickins).

19. Another PUSSY post. When will Dems toughen up for Christ sake !
We get the shit kicked out of us in election after election because we ALLOW it ! And too many wimpy, wishy washy, bleeding heart liberals are too NUMB to realize that electoral politics is TOUGH, ROUGH business. Hear this and hear it well, either we go on OFFENSE this time, or we lose another one. Forget this idealistic horsecrap. Roll up your sleeves fellow Dems, grow some balls, see reality, and FIGHT these GOP scroatbags with everything you've got.

31. Obama needs to attack more
No cheap attack ads though. Ads should be fair, honest and relevant to important issues of the election. There is tons of stuff on McCain out there. McCain shifting to Obama's position on Afghanistan is a good example.

36. I don't know if it's defined by some as "negative" but
I've seen one where McCain's energy policy is criticized and contrasted with Obama, it also points out how often McCain has agreed with Bush's positions. There was also the Radio McCain=McSame ads(but this could be viewed as reactionary), but if he can respond to McCain's attack timely, while continuing to push forth his own positives that could go a long way to helping him win in november. I think the pattern for "negative" commercials latter on, will not be the sleazy character attacks, but will deliberately link McCain to bush in the Economy, and in Foreign Policy.
