What about Governor Bill Ritter of Colorado as a possible Veep?
Edited on Sun Jul-27-08 04:43 PM by ruggerson

I don't live in Colorado, so I'd be interested in what Coloradans think.

He has a few drawbacks:

He is personally against abortion, though he has specifically said he is not anti Roe V Wade, nor would he use government to ban abortions.

He's a former prosecutor, so the Repukes could dig up a few cases and try to spin some controversies.

Little to no foreign policy experience, but few Governors do.

Positives:

He's young, he's new, he's a fresh face.

He's Catholic and he is a Colorado native. If we want to possibly swing some Mountain states, he's an appealing choice.

Other than abortion, he's progressive on most social issues. And he has been supportive of planned parenthood.

He moved to Zambia to do missionary work in 1987 for two years.

He is also a strong advocate of universal health care, he is pro labor and has fought the oil and gas industries.

1. Interesting. But I think it's going to be somebody with foreign policy heft.
But this is an intriguing possibility, one I had not thought of.

Is he popular in Colorado?
