1. Yes, but he has always said he was not interested and wanted to stay in the Senate...
This said, I would be extremely happy with such a choice.

3. Really? I thought he said he'd be open to being VP...
He also didn't rule out a presidential run in the future.

8. No, Feingold has not always said he would not be interested.
From my hometown paper: http://www.lacrossetribune.com/articles/2006/11/21/news/02feingold21.txt
November 21,2006

ONALASKA, Wis. — U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold admitted Monday he’d have to seriously think about it if asked to be a presidential running mate.

I would much rather keep him as one of my senators for many years. I don't really think he would help the ticket much, but outside of picking Kucinich his choice would probably give many Liberals an orgasm.

5. Rhetorically, yes
In the real world, no. I don't see how he would help the ticket- another midwesterner, another Senator, liberal (doesn't bother me, but not going to attract anyone who wasn't going to vote for Obama anyway and likely to deter those on the fence) has some personal baggage and is Jewish (again, not a turnoff to this member of the tribe, but a Black AND a Jew? Might be pushing it just a bit!

NO... He'd be much better as the Attorney General.

I meant to vote NO in the poll, not 'Sure'.

6. I voted yes...but I also respect Russ' interests.
Anyway...let's just let Russ have input somewhere in the new administration and I'll be happy! Russ and Barack are both diamonds!

9. Russ was my hope for president....would be thrilled with him as a VP.
Then again, Ren and Stimpy or Bevis and Butthead would be an improvement on what we've put up with for the past nearly 8 years.

10. Absolutely- but it's not going to happen.
America is not ready for a Black President and a Jewish VP. As much as I wish we had passed the place where either of these points make a damn bit of difference, the truth is, we're still many years away from this being reality. Racisim and Anti-semitism- especially now with Israel making noise about attacking Iran (which of course, is something the Bush crime family is rooting for and supporting)- both would come up big time and would get in the way.

I'm a huge Feingold fan but it's just not reality. Same with Bloomberg. One day perhaps- but not yet.

11. yes, but he would hurt the ticket.
he's liberal and jewish.

it's going to be hard enough to get an african american elected -- put a jew on the ticket and it's going to lose.

13. also twice divorced I think - would still love him and a solid midwesterner
I'm not sure he would hurt the ticket. Many Wisconsonites that voted for Bush still vote for Feingold.

15. I'm not sure the two divorces matter all that much, but
A black man and a Jew may be a lot for a lot of voters. It is a shame, but that is reality.

27. I look at it differently...
The 20% or so of Americans who think Obama is a Muslim would be left scratching their heads.

is the time....

I would REALLY like seeing him take over

19. in theory
i would love him. he was second to kucinich in line as my dream candidate for president. that said, i'm pragmatic enough to realize that it wouldn't work because he's liberal, jewish and divorced.

28. Kerry lost Iowa and barely won Wisconsin. Feingold would help.
Particularly since the GOP convention is in Minnesota, Obama needs to watch the Midwest carefully.

This is an area that was solid blue for Dukakis, yet the population is changing and these states keep inching away from the Democrats.

Illinois obviously isn't a problem, but Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan are states we need to watch.

I think Feingold could guarantee us Wisconsin, and he'd help in Iowa, Minnesota and Michigan, leaving Obama to focus on other states.

I'm sure Obama and his campaign advisers know the Midwest has to be nailed down this year. The question is how to do it.

I think Feingold would be a choice that would help get Obama votes while not creating controversy.
