6. He did show America his appendix scar. Or some scar on his gut.
Can't really remember. You don't see presidents doing that very often. Of course, in recent years, it's been pretty common to see the president with a black eye. How many black eyes has Bush had? But I digress.
11. there probably wouldn't have been a cuban missle crisis
under Nixon. Kennedy's botching of the bay of pigs helped bring that about. Nixon likely wouldn't have made that error. Kennedy was still a better choice but not on foreign affairs.
14. Kennedy botched it by doing it half-assed instead of not doing it at all

He did it half-assed because he was rightfully worried about Khrushchev responding by taking Berlin if they knew that the US was responsible. Nixon would've given full support to the Cuban exiles and it either would've failed like it did under Kennedy or succeeded and Khrushchev would've then taken Berlin. That would've led to a nuclear conflict sooner or later.
13. Kind of the way that some now believe that Obama should pick Gore or Kerry.
There's no way Gore would ever do it and I would be extremely doubtful about Kerry. I think Kerry will emulate Kennedy and just try and be the very best senator he can be for the rest of his political career.
Those things were said about LBJ. Kennedy didn't pick him until Thursday since JFK's nomination wasn't clinched until the actual roll call. RFK and JFK were both afraid that there might be a nomination fight over LBJ. Kennedy was in control of the convention enough to stave this off. I think the JFK delegates just accepted JFK's judgment on this and realized that LBJ would help carry Texas. Practical and hard boiled politics - can you believe it?
