1. The man needs a rest.
I actually had the opportunity to talk to him (very briefly) on the phone at 12:30am tonight - he sounded extremely tired. I hope he takes some time off soon.

3. I'm not at liberty to say right now.
But after 12 noon today I can. I'll post it then. All I can say is it was a thrill to speak to the next President of the United States.

11. Obama stayed at the hotel where I work last night.
He called down for a wake-up call. That's when I talked to him - very very briefly. He really sounded exhausted.
We were all under strict orders not to divulge his location. He got up at 6am and went to a gym. Then back to the hotel for an 8am press conference. Pretty impressive secret service protection. Other guests' asked "what are all the cops doing here tonight."

5. I don't recognize the race when I sample DU
There is literally nothing happening. The situational influence is 100x more important than daily hyper ventilating over recency. On DU somehow that is reversed and it's comical.

Kerry was going to lose to an incumbent in 2004 if Swift Boating didn't exist, and Obama is going to prevail in '08 even if Rachel Maddow continues to ignorantly shout inept campaign every day for the balance.

She needs to be strung up. I can't think of another solution. Let her pirouette around on a cable shouting over reactive irrelevancies until she acquires bare minimal competence at grasping the big picture.

This is particularly absurd because we had a related example during the primaries. Obama seized foundational advantage in March. Hillary needed a miracle at that point and posters here were correct to focus on delegate math to dismiss Hillary supporters who actually believed she could pull it off. I preferred Hillary but conceded it had become the equivalent of hitting a 10 team parlay.

Obama's current position is superior to any logical projection of where we would be. He's facing a weaker candidate than Hillary. McCain as a campaigner has declined even more dramatically from 2000 than our estimates coming out of the GOP primaries. The polls on voter enthusiasm favor Obama by huge margin. He wins the likability surveys easily. The generic edge is heavily on our side. The VP choice figures to boost a vital state. The trading price is roughly 63-37 and no sign of fragile. Bush is still stuck with approval ratings resembling the age of a college senior. Nothing has stuck to Obama, a public catch phrase like flip flopper. The younger, taller, better speaking, more attractive candidate figures to benefit from convention and debate focus. I'm having a difficult time detecting a problem.

6. We remain in good shape
but it is disappointing that we have still have sooooooooooo many stupid people, that share our air. McCain should be below 30%.

I think McWorsethanBushbyfar is running the risk of gaining support in super red states but losing it in the battle gtounds with his campaign tactics. Still, it's amazing that a week that includes John McCain does not speak for John McCain, would see him make ANY headway in the race for President. If McCain can't speak for McCain then how can he speak for America?

8. A more realistic poll.
A more realistic poll from pollster.com has Obama 284, McCain 147, with tossups 107. Still, Obama has better than 270, which he needs to win. My guess is 284 is the worst he can do. Hopefully, he will do better.
