Dick Cavett's left-handed apology to Pat Buchanan on 'Hardball."
The great Dick Cavett apologized to Pat Buchanan, on Tweety's show, by saying: "I'm sorry I called Buchanan a 'Moral Thug.' I had him confused with Robert Novack."

Bwaaa haaa haaa haaa! Too fucking funny, Dick! You are still the best at the game, sir. Two birds with one well-aimed stone.

5. And did the screen not DRIP with class?
Dick Cavett was great. Damn good old-timer with a very good story that relates .. and great comments on Iraq-nam. Cavett killed any effect of the weak Buchanan.

13. He did indeed!
That camera stayed on the disheveled, but lovable and believable Cavett for oh-so-long!

9. Bingo, AZ
Jon Stewart needs to have Dick Cavett on his show. Hell, until tonight I didn't know Cavett was still alive. We need a re-birth of the ultra-dry Dick Cavett. He is 100-proof Vodka in a small shot-glass.

4. I also loved Cavett's remark about the American people
being very slow learners when it comes to preemptive wars.

10. That was great. Is there a DVD collection of Cavett's shows?
Dick Cavett, in a wind-breaker, looking chilled, and slightly old, just killed the Bu$h regime! What was the comment? Short, queer and anti-war? Then Cavett said "I'm not that short." I've dorked it up, but kudos to Cavett for his response. God-damn I love that guy!

12. My hubby & I howled at that one
Was it something like short-stumped, fag, communist?

How about Cavett's remarks about certain words from Kerry's debate with O'Neill in '71 struck him as they have a bit of relevance today. Specifically, Geneva convention, torture of prisoners.

19. I think it was "sawed off communist faggot"...
Cavett's reply to the caller was "I am not sawed off."

6. Yeah, you know he said it bothered him all these years.
I think he's lying. He just moved the moral thug in Novak's corner. They're both moral thugs! I thought that was just great! Pat didn't know what to say. He was speechless! Hahaha!

and had I not been, I would be after tonight. Anyone who can make Buchanan speechless has done a national service.

14. My favorite Dick Cavett line
Do you approve of unnatural sexual practices?
If you don't practice, how will you get good at them?

8. Before Dennis Miller got his mind-control chip implanted,
one of the best talk show interviews I EVER saw was him being interviewed by Cavett. Between the two of them, Miller and Cavett know everything there is to know, and are both Masters of ALLUSION. My head nearly exploded listening to their intellectual banter.

But then Dennis went to the dark side, and now I hate his damned guts.

But I'll always love Dick Cavett.

17. What the Hell HAPPENED to Dennis Miller?
Didn't this guy make appearances on the Comic Relief TV fundraiser for the homeless? He used to appeal for donations, asking the public to give folks a second chance after they've been on the street, down on their luck.

Next thing I know he's saying nice things about Duhbya on the Leno show, supporting the Iraq invasion and basically saying that there's nothing wrong with the GOP's record deficits. I had a bad feeling about this guy...like, maybe he was angling for a right-wing talk show host job. Little did I know.

What the hell happened with this guy? I'm starting to hate him about as much as I hate Hannity and O'Lielly. Does anyone have the story on how he sold out?
