Flip-flop? Bush Campaign defends Swift Boat Liars?
NPR's 'All Things Considered' has reported today that the "Bush Campaign denounced (William) Rood's article in the Tribune as politically motivated."

I haven't yet found any corroboration of John McChesney's report, but, if it is accurate, that would mean that the Bush Campaign has now come to the defense of the Swift Boat liars -- flip-flopping on their statements praising John Kerry's military service *and record*.

Assuming that the Bush Campaign position is, as Bush said today*, "Senator Kerry served admirably; and he ought to be proud of his record", they should agree with Rood's account of events, and would have no reason to comment on his story -- just like the Bush Campaign has refused to comment specifically on any of the Swift lies. However, if the Bush Campaign views Rood's article as "politically motivated", are they not arguing against its veracity -- for how could the truth be categorized as politically motivated?

In my opinion, any statement by the Bush Campaign denouncing Rood's story is a defense of the Swift liars, and should be exposed as such.

Did anyone hear any statements that might be the source of McChesney's report? Who was McChesney's source? Was it a private interview, or a public statement? How can we get more info on this?

1. Why will no one ask a Bush Campaign official...
how they feel about John Kerry's actions and words after he came back from Vietnam.

It's easy to say "we honour his service", but why hasn't anyone asked them what they think of his anti-war activities? Why hasn't anyone asked them if Bush things the Vietnam war was right or wrong?

3. Confirmed -- that NPR's McChesney misspoke

I just got off the phone w/ NPR's John McChesney, and he admitted that he "misspoke" regarding the denuncation. He said that the statement should have been attributed to the Swift Boat Veterans group.

So, there's nothing more to the quote than simple irony... that the Swift liars say Rood has come forward due to political maneuvering, whilst they are the sole champions of The Truth.

Chuckle.
