Breaking ... Another connection between Bush and Swift Vets

HE DID NOT CONDEMN THE AD, BTW. The White House clarified that - they think it is helping him.

Also, check out the washingtopost - http://www.washingtonpost.com

1. Here's the good part
The president spoke on a day when Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, in another indication of its web of ties to the Republican Party, acknowledged that a woman who helped set it up and works for it is an officer of the Majority Leader's Fund, a political action committee affiliated with the former House majority leader Dick Armey of Texas.

The name of the woman, Susan Arceneaux, is given as the contact person on the post office box that Swift Boat Veterans for Truth lists as its address. She is treasurer of the Majority Leader's Fund. Records show that like Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, the group receives significant financing from Bob Perry, a Texan who has long supported Mr. Bush, and his company, as well as Sam and Charles Wyly, prominent Texas Republican donors. Sam Wyly, under the name "Republicans for Clean Air,'' took out advertisements in 2000 criticizing the environmental record of Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona.

Mr. Perry has donated $200,000 to the Swift boat group, records show, and Merrie Spaeth, a Republican strategist who has been advising the Swift boat group, was a spokeswoman for Sam Wyly's advertising campaign in 2000.

2. Gee, the Wyly brothers...
...names I hadn't heard much of after coming across mention of them in George HW Bush, the unauthorized biography...

Why do good people die and get assassinated, but evil phucks like these live on and on and on? Regular infusions of infant fat?

arrange for the deaths and assassinations of the good people.

3. Check this out from the Dallas Morning News just minutes ago:
Edited on Tue Aug-24-04 12:06 AM by NewYorkerfromMass
Houston home builder Bob Perry, a key bankroller for Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, is listed as the co-host of a New York City fund-raiser next week for the Harris County GOP, whose guest list includes President Bush's top political adviser.

Mr. Perry, who has given $200,000 to the veterans' group to help launch the anti-John Kerry ads that question the Democrat's Vietnam War record, has denied any links to Mr. Bush or the national Republican Party regarding the Swift Boat Veterans' campaign.

Bill Miller, a spokesman for Mr. Perry, said that while the prolific GOP donor has given money to the local party, he was surprised to find his name on the invitation.....

....Invitations to the Harris County reception and fund-raiser Sept. 1 at Tavern on the Green name Mr. Perry as an event sponsor, and those on the invitation list include former President George Bush, presidential adviser Karl Rove and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay

5. Link probs and solution
Edited on Tue Aug-24-04 12:46 AM by Snazzy
If you have a cookie:

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/washington/stories/082404dnpolfundraiser.5ae2b.html

If you don't, one could go here first:

http://bugmenot.com/

----

Edit: see you have that link after all.... Sending me somewhere entirely different (and story isn't on their search). Damn technology getting out of control. Anyway, Zone Alarm really doesn't like Dallas Morning News.

Edit2: WTF is with that site?! Tried several bugmenot solutions--dead, peeled back various levels of internet condoms, etc., not good enough. You can just keep your precious content, Dallas MN. You break the new Pentagon Papers, the shining diamond of Texas journalism that you are, and I'll drop everything and sign right the F up. Then, joyously, you may precisely track my every news reading move—submit my overt demographics to whatever microscopic analysis you see fit; otherwise and for now, see ya Dallas MN!

Edit3: This is a huge smoking gun of a connection--please ignore my tech problems and tell everybody you know. (Over and out).
