Laura Bush was arrested for prostitution in 1966?
I didn't want to have to make this... er, bring this up. But by making Laura's good qualities a central theme of his Presidential campaign George W. Bush brought this on himself. These allegations deserve a fair and impartial investigation.

A co-worker's brother once knew a guy who used to visit a prostitute in West Virginia in the early 1970s who had an interesting tale to tell. Her name cannot be published here because she fears for her life, but I believe her... or rather, I believe what she told my buddy's brother's friend. It seems that she used to work as a call girl with Laura Welch and at least two other girls in Dallas in 1966 while Laura Welch was enrolled at Southern Methodist University. She said that Laura Welch (who went by 'bunny' professionally) didn't seem as interested in the money as the kicks. Ironically, their "agent" was a guy named Hap Lenworth who had been a bouncer at one of Jack Rudy's Dallas strip clubs before they were closed following Ruby's 1963 arrest for murder. Lenworth had started informally 'promoting' a few of the suddenly unemployed dancers, so Laura Welch's walk on the wild side was one of many odd ripples emanating from the JFK assassination.

The kicker: An influential Washington power-broker has told several associates that George W. Bush's strained relations with his father stem in part from a drunken incident approximately a month before George and Laura's November 5, 1977 wedding when the elder Bush tried to steer his son away from Welch (whom George W. had only know for two months at the time), telling George W. of rumors about Laura's past from a family friend from the oil business had gone on a double date with Laura and another of Hap Lenworth's girls, in 1966.

some people have said these things.

The charges are out there.

These are serious charges.

Mrs. Bush needs to answer these charges to put this disturbing story behind us. Indeed, she owes the American people an explanation.

And you would easily be able to pass a lie detector test and say that "people are discussing Laura Bush's prostitution arrests".

You could even sign an affidavit to the effect.

the first post doesn't actually contain a reference to an arrest (as in, where it took place), just that Mrs. Bush, er, whoored herself.

I'm just sayin', the meme would travel further if one discussed where the arrest took place, etc. Enjoy!

It's just that some say Laura was a Ho. Now it's up to her to prove that she wasn't (otherwise it's proof that she is).

Edited on Tue Aug-24-04 12:23 AM by troublemaker
The White House has blinked! They have now admitted to substantial parts of the allegations in the published story!

Laura Bush was born on November 4, 1946, in Midland, Texas, to Harold and Jenna Welch. Inspired by her second grade teacher, she earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Southern Methodist University in 1968. She then taught in public schools in Dallas and Houston. In 1973 she earned a master of library science degree from the University of Texas at Austin and worked as a public school librarian in Austin. In 1977 she met and married George Walker Bush. They are the parents of twin daughters, Barbara and Jenna, who are named for their grandmothers.

*"I was there and I saw everything that happened" means that even though I was not yet born during the time that these events transpired, I just now read what troublemaker wrote and agree with it whole-heartedly.

**By "I am an alumnnus of SMU and went to school with Laura Welch", I mean that I live in the Dallas Area and several friends and acquaintances of mine have attended SMU, at least one of whom was an actual classmate of hers.

30. We've already seen numerous threads and articles
linking GHW Bush as a CIA agent to knowledge of Oslwald and the JFK assassination.

The same guys and their offspring and colleagues and corporate and government interests who were responsible for JFK's assassination are now squatters in the White House.

Think about it. The connections are frightening and appalling.

You think Wellstone's plane crash was an "accident"?

You think JFK Jr.'s plane crash was an "accident"?

These bastards are ruthless killers.

34. "Laura Bush was arrested for prostitution in 1966?"
This sounds like some wild fish tale. It's full of obvious inaccuracies. I would assume as a setup to make Dems look stupid or liars.

However, saying that, I want to remind everyone that Laura Welch Bush killed her boyfriend allegedly in a drunken rage when she ran a stop sign and rammed his car during an argument. At the very least she should ahve been charged with negligence, DWI, possible vehicular manslaughter, or even vehicular homocide. The problem is she was 17, and in those days, juveniles got a free pass for even murder. Like I said, she should have been charged with negligence.

If you want to see some really explosive stuff, check out my blog at lindastarr.us and get a real eyefull of what is about to break out on GWB's TNG AWOL service. I've heard from several major tv and print mainstream media forums. Dunno how it will turn out, but I've directed their efforts to get the two page disciplinary report and GWB's DD214 that'll tell the true story.

Seriously, though... I have no objection to consensual prostitution or drug use, and I certainly don't object to anyone's consensual sexual activities. For those reasons I find that kind of vice smear particularly vile.

I am dismayed by the sexist tone of some replies but I stand by my own posts.

I would have no trouble voting for a former prostitute. I would have voted for Cicciolina for the Italian parliament. But all Republicans would find it indefensible, if true.

It just wouldn't make much sense for a satire of Republican smears to be MORE enlightened than real smears.

53. Time to form "Fast Women for the Truth"
There certainly is a "marriage of convenience" aspect to their union, and it's been posited before that her having a little skeleton in her closet (or on her hood) was good, because Junior needed a wife who wouldn't embarrass everyone by turning on him, and he was a known lout and wastrel.

Of course, it's supremely impractical even if true: there are only two months to the election and this would certainly be taken as a brutish move even if done by surrogates. Besides, I don't know how much of a skunk she is--besides benefitting from the evil of her in-laws--and I think it'll be just fine to let her lapse into the darkness of untouchable status after Junior is seen for the nothing he is.

76. LOL---We could take a page from the GOP tactics book
I am sure we could buy some old hag Texas Whore some crack and costume jewelry and she would say anything.
It wouldn't be much different from the kind of garbage that Richard Mellon Scaife and the Arkansas Project, The Clinton Chronicles or that 'Unlimited Acsess' book have done to the Clintons.

67. Bob Dole: "There must be some truth to these charges"
Dole was quoted on CNN today saying "I mean, these can't all be Democratic liars, can they? There must be some truth in the charge that our First Lady was a back-alley cocksucker in the mid-60's"

The American people deserve to know the answers.

Sorry so many around here don't "get" it.

Thanks for the (many) laughs.

80. I heard it differently - she was arresting for RUNNING A PROSTITUTION RING
When I heard this story repeated recently, a new wrinkle was introduced -- although she started as a worker, she eventually worked her way up to management, and finally bought the business from her pimp. By the time she was arrested, she'd fired all the female hookers and was running a male-only service.

I'm not sure which story is true, but I think for a woman to climb the job ladder like that and end up as management is a feminist success story, even if it was an illegal business.

83. I see what you're trying to do, but I don't think the content is funny.
Too bad you couldn't have come up with a way to satirize the Swift Boat Liars without being sexist at the same time. Try again. There's plenty of good material out there.
