Rumors of internal polling showing NJ close after McGreevey problems?
Alright I have no clue if this makes any sense, but there's been some rumor (at least as indicated by www.dalythoughts.com ). The guy is a RW Bush supporter, so I'm not going to take it too seriously. A republican poll showed the state tied.

I myself think it's BS and at least as indicated by all reputable non partisan polls, Kerry is up there by double digits. The Daly guy on that site, still has NJ listed as a strong advantage for Kerry (the same category as Illinois and CA). I see no reason to doubt this designation.

Has anyone here heard about the rumors? Is it just BS? Earlier polls showed the race a lot tighter, but the state has opened some big leads for Kerry. I see no reason for Kerry to worry about the state...but still I'm wondering if there is any truth to these rumors.

4. Weird situation here in Jersey
From what I hear, the internal dem poll show it with Kerry leading in only in the low single digits. Lots of talk about stuff on the gov will slowly drip out with new crap each week till election. Best move would be for Corzine to run and win in a landslide this November.

5. Oh well
Hopefully (and my guess is most likely) it's an outlier. I'm sure internal polls can also be wrong sometimes. I can't expect Bush to make up 16%+ from the last election.

Plus, just another public poll from two days ago shows Kerry up by 11 points. Also, if Bush thought he could hurt Kerry in the state, he'd start advertising and spending money there. As far as I know, he hasn't yet.

6. New Jerseyians have no party loyalty
Edited on Tue Aug-24-04 08:07 AM by LynneSin
They'll vote for the best candidate and they know that Bush isn't it. The next elected governor of New Jersey may be a republican but the next president they'll vote for will be Kerry.

Edit note: Party loyality isn't a problem - sometimes the better candidate is on the republican ticket. Hey, even I'll admit I voted for pro-choice Tom Ridge over the anti-choice dem ticket

7. Could be more setup for vote fraud
Keeping the idea in people's heads that this is a close race sets the stage for vote theft and the reinstallation of the monkey. If all the polls show Kerry up by double digits virtually everywhere in the country (which I figure has to be the case), then it's all too fishy when bush* "wins."

Being from RI, I freely admit that I live in arguably the most politically corrupt state in the union. But NJ has some history in that regard too. No telling what the BFEE might try to pull there, once they have everyone convinced that the state is a "statistical dead heat."

8. That's just bunk. There was a legitimate poll from NJ after the scandal
broke that showed Kerry up by 12.
