I am SO sick of hearing pundits ask "Why isn't it CLOSER?" but here's my response

1. It's AUGUST!

2. Obama is AHEAD and has BEEN AHEAD for weeks. Sorry if he's not leading the polls by high double digits, but ahead is ahead is ahead. And I'll bet if McCain was even ONE point ahead, you'd be bleating about how he was kicking Obama's ass.

3. Obama is a BLACK MAN . . . a BLACK MAN whom no one even heard of until a couple of years ago who is consistently polling higher than a white man who has been a national public figure for decades. You all have been screaming for months about how white people won't vote for him, blah blah blah. And now that he's ahead, your argument is falling apart because, obviously, a whole lot of white people plan to vote for him. Despite all of the obstacles a black man running for president faces(and don't give me that even playing field crap - that playing field has been skewed for centuries and didn't suddenly tilt back to level two months ago), Obama is STILL ahead of McCain. Nuff said.

8. It's so biased on so many levels. In 2004 Kerry was always close to Bush

in the polls and they didn't say, "why isn't Bush doing better?" afterall he was the incumbent president and mr. 9/11.
