Bayh's hometown excited about VP prospects
SHIRKIEVILLE, Ind. - Speculation that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is considering Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh as a potential running mate has people excited in Bayh's boyhood hometown.

Many in the small Vigo County community know Bayh and his family and hope that the former two-term governor will be picked for the national ticket.

"Everybody's pretty sure that he's going to get it," said Carolyn Powers, co-owner of the Midway Bar and Grill in the heart of Shirkieville. "It would put the Midway on the map, wouldn't it?"

Bayh's parents had a farm about 10 miles north of Terre Haute when he was born in 1955. The family sold that home a couple years later when Bayh's father, Birch Bayh, entered law school at Indiana University in Bloomington.

3. Seriously, is Anyone Really "Excited" about Bayh? Not he's bad...
But he's kind of a downer next to Obama. He's like the epitome of privileged white guy with last name. But I honestly don't know him well.

2. Well That's One Town, lol
I'm not behind his politics but he might just be able to bring in IN. I still have my doubts about IN though, it's KKK history doesn't give me much confidence.

4. Bayh...
never got less than 60 percent of the vote in his Senate runs, and was a very popular Gov. of Indiana.

5. Yeah I've heard that, which is why Obama has to really consider him
Maybe I just haven't been exposed to him enough. For me he's like Gephardt, totally enervating. So could just be me.

But your point is well taken.
