Obama's ads fit into the Olympics well.
Obama's ads are really good. His ad about alternative energy fits into the Olympic theme perfectly. Most of the ads are low excitement, highly idealistic, forward looking ads. I'm thinking of the GM ads in particular.

McCains ads are out of place. They're nasty and negative. I hope he's doubly punished for negative campaigning considering how out of place his ads are.

1. Obama' s ads are about what he can do for the country.
McLame's ads are about what Obama cannot do.

3. I agree. And I love the positive message.
The Olympics are about achievement, not cheap insults.

4. Great
This is brilliant. It's also a fragment that explains how hard some factions of MSM are trying to
rig the election. The corporate polls, e.g., Gallup, are full of shit, period. The trip to Europe
was a success beyond any a candidate has ever had. 200,000 people in Berlin are a special symbol - JFK.
They weren't paid to be there. This Olympic theme is perfect. Another coup for Obama's campaign.

He's way ahead but the Matrix boys are messing with our minds with these pseudo polls.

I'm glad to hear this. But watch the polls. They're the front line of the campaign to steal this
election. Count on it.

11. NICE one!
Thanks for the link! We've been busy through the evening and haven't watched the whole thing straight through, just bits and pieces, so we've missed a lot of the games.

But lemme tellya something... what I DID see, the Chinese men gymnasts, some Americans too, and Michael Phelps - hell, EVERYBODY'S gonna be talking about the Olympics for TWO WEEKS STRAIGHT. NOBODY'S gonna give a crap about ANYTHING but the Olympics. All those beautiful, tight, fit young bodies and charming, sweet, wrinkle-free faces, bikinis on the sand, tight young butts, perfect posture, rippling biceps, gorgeous long curvy legs, FUCK IT! Let's tie our bibs on and watch!

Which means...

NOBODY's gonna give a rat's ass about John Edwards. Few people except the hard-cores will care about politics, PERIOD. It's been such a pounding primary season bleeding directly into general election campaigning, that I think people are just TIRED of it. The whole thing. Just Fuck It. Leave me ALONE! ENOUGH already! I think that's the collective sentiment of most of America at the moment - they're probably grateful for some respite from it all, especially as john mcsame has gotten nastier and meaner and crankier.

By the time the Olympics are over, most people will be bored with the John Edwards story. It'll be "so yesterday." Been-there/Done-that. That's Old News. It'll be an "oh, THAT" complete with an exasperated sigh or rolling eyeballs or both. Just tiresome and tedious and trivial and Enough-Already. Which can ONLY be good for us Dems.

If it had to happen, when better than the afternoon of the Opening Ceremonies of the two-week-long Summer Olympics - and a Friday afternoon at that? The VERY BEST TIME EVER to have to cough up a hairball in public like John Edwards just did. Nobody's gonna give a shit, even after things go back to politics with the conventions and all. It'll be so over. So old news by then. And he's not even the nominee, so who cares? There'll be SO MUCH ELSE to cover that's brand new and hot and glitzy with all the big-name Dems there and the noise and the excitement and the Obama speech for all its many reasons. John Edwards will be a small footnote by then, if indeed he hasn't achieved that status already.

Somebody here said we dodged a bullet. I would say - AND HOW!!!!!!

7. Sadly negative campaigning works.
I wish it didn't, but it does. I hope, however, that you are correct in your wishes.

8. The point the OP is making relates to context, not whether or not negative ads work
The network makes the Olympics all about inspiration, so it is indeed jarring to see McCain slam Obama with an ad after one of those against-all-odds-and-boy-do-I-love-Mom profiles.

10. It's hard to say if the context will have an effect, but...
from my own perspective--and I hate the bastard--McCain's ads are better right now. I actually thought the Obama ad I saw just now was a commercial at first...it was just too low-key. McCain's are kind of jarring, but that's precisely why they work. It wouldn't be good for Obama to run negative ads right now like McCain, but I wish he would just sort of hammer out a list of 4 or 5 big items, like: specific tax cuts for Americans, his energy policy, diplomacy, etc...something that counters McCain's negative ads better.

12. McClown is nasty and negative. I hope these do not work. They are lies and shameful
to be aired during the olympics.
