Are you registered? For sure? I'm so tired of hearing how the 'youth' is going to disappoint us.

Tell me it isn't so!

I'm on the higher end of your age spectrum, so thanks for calling me a kid. :)

I'm going to appreciate it as long as I can.

Not really. In all honesty, I'm glad we disagree on a lot of things.

now I like you even more. You are a young, thoughtful person. I've not seen to many of them, so you just went up in my book. Whatever that book is, but I think it's very cool that you are young and so DAMN opinionated! Ha!

15. Oh crap, you wanna diatribe on the ole Gen X target market?
ok

We're all over the map.

We are pltically active but face different economical challenges. Hence the reason why they claim 30 is the new twenty. Our politicla philosophies are all over the map. We vote for greens, socialists and Democrats depending one whether or not they appeal to our economic or social realities.

We are the generation that's supposed to clean up the mess left by the hippies of the 60's that preached peace and love and sold out to a wolf in sheeps clothing; Ronald Reagan.

We are forever awaiting the figure that can concisely and acuuratly describe out social and economical struggles. The closest we were offered was Kurt Cobain and Eddy Vedder. We are not discovering the wisdom of Howard Zinn and hope to hell this guy never dies. The closest we have is Michale Moore.

We see the 25 and under crowd as a bunch of spoiled rotten little brats that are just about to get a tastes of the vinegar we've tatsted all out lives.

How's that?

Who the hell has done that, and what was wrong with that? You're picking a big fight if you think the current way this country is going is great. I'd love some 'peace and love'.

24. I'm not arguing that it's great
oh. fuck no.

I'm, talking about the ideal. Thoe one that was abondoned and the cold war greedy ideology of Reagan which tookl it's place. The idea that is was abandoned and supported in the name of self preservation.

When it came down to the nitty gritty \folks chose the bogey man and the wallet.

18. lol
I am 27 and have not missed so much as a school budget vote since I was 18. I think its funny that people concentrate on the "youth vote" coming out bad, whereas I know tons of women with children in their early to late thirties who are not going to vote, nothing I can say or do is going to make them vote, and they just get really annoyed when I have the temerity to suggest that their not voting might adversely effect their children. In contrast when I go to a democratic function at Buffalo State College or UB I find tons of energized Democratic party supporters that are all under 20.

BS junior is going to move into the dorms @ the University down the street this month. Does she need to re-register since her address will be different but in the same town and the same voting precinct?

32. Youth didn't diappoint last time
Youth turned out in record numbers for the last election. But they made up a small percentage over all because everybody else also turned out in record numbers. I get so sick of the media trying to discourage youth by saying "election after election the youth don't show up to vote" when it isn't true.

36. And the NON-youth haven't disappointed us?! They've run the planet into the fucking ground!!
We haven't had much of a chance to disappoint yet. But the previous generations have been fucking up things for YEARS.

I'm 31. Registered. Volunteering. Blogging. If the "youth" disappoint, it's not going to be because of me.

Tell you what. If you over-35ers promise to stop killing the planet, starting wars, gutting our constitution, and generally fucking everything up, we promise to get to the polls to get Obama in there to fix your mess. Deal?

37. Whoa! Chill. Who over 35 has recently even been asked for their
opinion, nevermind solutions? I did mean the claptrap about younger people voting (or not), get your drift, but please don't blame all of us. I'm as unhappy with Pelosi, Conyers, et al, as you are. If anyone could have suggested what could be done about their inaction that would work, we'd listen. We live in messed up times.
The obvious solution is to rid ourselves of those that aren't doing what we want; easier said than done. And the beat goes on.
