Democrats and national defense.
This is very simple. Barack Obama and the Democratic Party must look credible on national defense. We must not let Republicans paint us or our candidate as weak on defense. They did that in the Cold War. They said that Dems were soft on communism. Now they're saying that Obama is too weak and inexperienced to deal with Russia, AQ, and other threats to our security. THEY HAVE A 50 YEAR HISTORY OF THIS AND THEY'RE DOING IT AGAIN IN THE 21ST CENTURY!!!

Am I saying we need to play the neocon game? NO! Do we need a hawk? NO! But we must promote the fact that we are the party of musular multilateralism!! We must return to our roots of FDR, Truman, and JFK.

Bush's multiple foreign policy failures don't necessarily mean that people will vote for Obama. We must make McCain look inept on foreign issues. Take him on where he is thought to be the strongest - foreign affairs. He has made enough gaffs the past 2 months to make him look like he has no clue. Likewise, Obama MUST look strong and credible on defense.

If the Dems can do this we will create a permanent majority for the next two decades. When speaking on matters of national defense Obama MUST speak clearly and concisely without equivocation or nuance. Period. He has to look comfortable talking about the military and defense. Further, next week's convention must be wrapped in patriotic symbols, music, speeches, apple pie, and all that other good stuff that Main Street loves.

This, IMHO, is the only thing holding Obama back from a double digit lead right now.

1. short and sweet
Everything that Americans need to know about Republicans and their 'superior' National Security credentials we learned on 9/11. Abysmal failures.

2. JFK screwed up on foreign policy repeatedly. People know Bush is a failure.
We need to show that our candidate will actually discuss foreign affairs with experts on the ground, etc. and not just go with 'gut' feelings or emotions. We really have to paint Bush as the reckless person he is. We need to mention the numbers of killed and injured for no reason.
