Why is anyone surprised that Warren lied and McCain cheated ... duh ...

by furiousxxgeorge
Sun Aug 17, 2008 at 03:28:52 PM PDT

Pastor Warren, the host of last night's forum was just on CNN. In an interview with Rick Sanchez the pastor admitted McCain was not even at the Church for the first half hour of the event. This admission comes as a surprise to those of us who watched the event and were told many times that McCain was at the Church and in isolation.

on the topic:

pastor rick warren just told me on air he thought mccain was in a cone of silence when he told people he was, though he wasn't. got it?

HT -

Why is anyone surprised ....

The fact that future President Obama was as genuine and open as he was is the totally substantive and genuine outcome he is consistently accomplishing.

The fact that McCrossInTheSand cheated and the preacher-boy-wonder lied is like so totally, boringly the only form of consistency they are capable.

Peace,
Bob

2. So...Rick Warren is responsible for
McCains motorcade getting a late start? If the plan was for McCain to be in a silent room, and that didn't happen while Warren was out with Obama, isn't it possible he didn't know things weren't that way?

...McCains motorcade was late, that's not on Warren (unless he secretly ordered it from his throne on high!). It's on McCain's camp.

8. read the transcript: Warren STATED that they had already put McCain
in a room which would not allow him to hear anything

why would he say that?

somebody lied, whether it was he, or one of his underlings who falsely told him that McCain was already there

either way it smells to high......heaven

21. Because...
...at the time he may have been under the impression that he WAS where he was supposed to be?

I'm just not quick to buy into conspiracy theories. It IS possible that Warren didn't know the location of McCains motorcade. If the plan was for McCain to be in some sort of silent room, and he believed everything was going according to plan, then it makes sense for him to say what he said.

24. Ok, maybe Pastor Warren was genuinely misled. But the point is that McCain knew the questions
McCain's team had ample opportunity to hear the questions and Obama's responses before the same questions (minus some troublesome ones) were asked of McCain.

That's not what the audience was told. Warren didn't tell us that McCain had a huge advantage over Obama. Instead, he told us the opposite. If Warren was lied to by somebody, it was McCain's team that did the lying.

I'm just saying.

31. for events such as these, I am sure the participants are asked to arrive well before live air time..
and probably would have met and chatted with Warren for a few minutes before.

Warren would HAVE to have known that McCain was not on prem when the show started. I find it impossible to believe he would be so out of the loop on this.

He wasn't just the host. He coordinated the entire event. I don't believe for a moment that Warren was not aware that McCain hadn't arrived before Obama was ready to go.

34. this might be another scenario to consider - Warren was put in an impossible situation
when he learned of McCain was not arriving on time. He must have known that just prior to the show, he had to know.

So maybe he cussed McCain out in his mind, swore and forgave himself, dam that bastard - I know what he's up to, but what do I do? call off the show? postpone it? that's not easy to do. dam you McFart, damn you to hellllllllllll!

panic. think fast. should have had a contingency plan for this.
dammit, I'll just carry on like everythings normal and hope things fall into place.

22. 'are we going to get back.......to SCOTUS justices?' he say this before they were ever mentioned:
WARREN: Let’s deal with abortion. I, as a pastor, have to deal with this all the time, every different angle, every different pain, all of the decisions and all of that. Forty million abortions since Roe v. Wade. Some people, people who believe that life begins at conception, believe that’s a holocaust for many people. What point is a baby entitled to human rights?

MCCAIN: At the moment of conception. (APPLAUSE). I have a 25-year pro-life record in the Congress, in the Senate. And as president of the United States, I will be a pro-life president. And this presidency will have pro-life policies. That’s my commitment. That’s my commitment to you.

WARREN: OK, we don’t have to beleaguer on that one. Define marriage.

MCCAIN: A union — a union between man and woman, between one man and one woman. That’s my definition of marriage.

Could I — are we going to get back to the importance of Supreme Court Justices or should I mention –

WARREN: We will get to that.

http://www.clipsandcomment.com/2008/08/17/full-transcript-saddleback-presidential-forum-sen-barack-obama-john-mccain-moderated-by-rick-warren/

I dunno if that's enough evidence of a slipup revealing that he already knew Obama talked about SCOTUS choice, but Warren/McCain DEFINITELY didn't discuss the Supreme Court at all before this exchange.......sort of an oblique reference WRT abortion, but NOTHING at all about the justices, or court

nothing

is that enough to set off alarm bells?

it certainly would have been had the order been reversed, and Obama asked to go back to a subject that hadn't been yet broached

If this McCain cheating was planned all along, which I think it was (whether Warren was involved in the earlier setup I dont know, but he sure smells a bit when the cameras started rolling) it couldn't be done if he went first, obviously.

just wondering if anyone heard word on how this choice was made?

35. Supposedly, some person "flipped a coin" ... I can only imagine ...
... the laughter among the Obama core team on that one.

Let's face it, they knew when Obama was going first what this scam was all about.

And, it's playing exactly as they (and I and many others) expected. McCrossInTheSand and his stooge un-Reverend buddie and all their very, very white fundie friends got caught in their own pack of lies and deception and it only took folk on 'the internets' a few hours to begin to expose the bullshit.

Can't wait to the see the YouTube versions of 'are we gonna get to SCOTUS yet' ... etc ...

Peace,
Bob

38. I saw a rerun last night.
Warren said 'we' flipped a coin to decide who goes first and senator mccain is now in the cone of silence.

lol. who was the 'we' Mr. Warren, as McCain was not there?
There was no coin toss, Obama had no choice but to go onstage and McCain planned it this way, probably giggling and gurgling with delight in his limo the whole time.

I don't know exactly how these live events work, but if someone is late that obviously could screw up the whole program. what with sponsors, etc., the strict adherance to time frames, it's probably a very complicated procedure to pull these things off.

So I think there are 2 possibilities here, one in which Warren was also used and abused by McCain and one where he was complicit.

1. Warren was in a pickle. After discovering McCain was not in the green room at the requested time he started panicing. He couldn't call the event off or have people twirling their thumbs and sponsors and producers going nuts while waiting for McCain. so he did the only thing he could and him and Obama agreed to carry on like nothing untoward happened. I think Obama would go along with something like this - he considers Warren a friend and I don't think Obama has a deliberate mean bone in his body. push him too far and I'm sure he will attack so fast you wouldn't know what happened.. (we haven't seen that part of him yet, so I am looking forward ;)

2. Warren was 'in on it' - how could he possibly not know that McCain was not on premises? That is a far stretch for anyone to believe that a host of a show like that doesn't know his guest is going to be late? what, no cell phone contact? He lied
