30. I'd rank Richardson 4th most likely behind Biden and Daschle
and Reed as a distant third.

Bill Bradley
Brian Schweitzer
Barbara Boxer
and
Bill Moyers.

And Gordon Lightfoot. I always did like Gordon Lightfoot.

4. Richardson, because he has both foreign policy and energy/economic credentials and we see the focus
switch between the economy and conflict abroad on a weekly basis

and he helps in western swing states, and with the latino vote, and the catholic vote etc etc etc

9. I'll second what you say.
Richardson may motivate the Hispanic vote away from a "who cares?" attitude about the election. Here in TX, Obama will get some help from the fact that Noriega is running for senate against that retard cornin.

5. I think Clarke should be Nat'l Security Advisor
I think Richardson is "too much minority" for the nation to handle; they're barely getting by with a half-black presidential candidate. SecState, yes. Veep, no.

Hillary would bring nearly no extra voters to the Democratic side and a hell of a lot of people to McCain's side out of shear reactionary-ness.

That guy from Indiana's a DLCer, kind of a DINO from what I've heard.

Probably be that Virginia governor.

He's been on a number of VP lists outside DU, and as
far as I know is the only one who has not been invited to speak.

Results 11 - 20 of about 2,050,000 for clark obama vp.

17. the list you google shows that there are a lot of people that support him
and they love him to death.

My point is that he has never been elected to office simply is meant to show that in any type of calculus he would have to be considered a long shot as the only time that has happened is when they are generals that are national heroes that could run for either party (Eisenhower or Grant)

Kaine is the one I was referring to.

He is the politician who took the biggest risk coming way out ahead of anybody else for Obama. They share similar world outlooks and I find it hard to believe that Obama would not repay him with a speaking spot at the convention unless something else was possible.

From a straight demographic point of view he remains the candidate that potentially has the widest possible impact (even if only a few points) coming from Missouri, living in Virginia, Catholic and fluent Spanish speaker.

39. I don't see Wes - but then his son said he was told his services
were not needed. So, I guess you mean Kaine, right.

Oh well, kiss the presidency goodbye. (IMHO).

I mean this from the depths of my soul. My gut. May intuition (my only claim to fame).

If he doesn't pick a seasoned political veteran - he will lose. He needs someone solid
very solid to reassure the electorate. Not us. The masses.

20. Based on who I think, not who I want. I am beginning to think it will be Biden
Previously, I didn't think so because Sen. Biden represents a small state with few electoral votes that is almost certainly going to go for Sen. Obama anyway.

But the two candidates who could conceivably deliver a swing state, Sen. Bayh and Gov. Kaine have some very strong liabilities.

Gov. Kaine has only served about three years as Governor and has never served in Congress or any other nationally high profile position - Just Lt. Governor and Mayor of Richmond. -- but that is too light weight for a V.P. resume.

Sen. Bayh is simply a foreign policy neoconservative who was an enthusiastic cheerleader for the Iraq War and has indicated that he might be favorable to a war with Iran. This would completely undercut Sen. Obama's theme of standing for "Change That We Can Believe In". Also it would completely remove from Sen. Obama the ability to attack McCain on foreign policy issues and the question of judgment.

Sen. Biden has an impressive resume and a great deal of foreign policy experience.

Given the realities as they exist, I think this would be considered a safe bet.

Gov. Richardson has an even more impressive resume and could conceivably help deliver New Mexico and a great deal of Hispanic votes. But I understand that there are some concerns and a great deal of rumors about personal matters concerning Gov. Richardson. Also, there is a question of whether it would be a political problem to have both the first Hispanic-American on the ticket that is being lead by the first African-American.

All things considered, I think it will be Biden. Not my personal choice in the best of all possible world. But this is what I now think will probably happen.

really deep connections - maybe her longevity - maybe her husband's clout?

I would not be unhappy at all with Biden. Mostly because he could do a lot worse.

27. I seriously don't know. Obama probably wants to make a splash
so it could possibly be someone we haven't even been talking about. On the other hand, he may be realizing that he needs to get serious and play it safe. So in that case...probably Biden.

My fanatical Schweitzer love makes my heart say that he'll be picked, but my head says no.

36. Well I hope the hell Bayh is not SAFE. That would totally depress
me. I know how you feel - but I try to look at it like - what do the masses
need to believe in O and vote for him? And I've decided they need some
reassurance. That is why I definitely think he needs a solid, seasoned
politician - hopefully who thinks like he does.

I truly believe, if he picks a lightweight soulmate or lightweight to try
and win a state - he will lose it all.

But, that's just me
