Are We Hung Up on VP for Deeper Psychological Reasons?
Ever drink because you wanted to not face something? I'm afraid that's what all this VP hyperventilating is about. This VP crap is entertaining us and Obama is entertaining us with it. Where's the beef? VP will be here today and out into the backwoods campaigning tomorrow----and if he/she isn't out there but front and center, then we have more problems than we know. Obama can't win with this "hide the VP" game. The media is covering basically nothing else he says except this. That's not good. Obama has to make this all about McCain and fast and put McCain on the defensive and get out of the goddamn foxhole McCain has been successfully putting this campaign in since weeks BEFORE Obama even finished the primaries. Either push Obama to make McCain defend against "incoming" from all directions......or go pour yourself another drink and drift away from what's really eating inside your guts about the way things are going.

1. Can we push Obama to attack McCain AND drink?
Because I really like to drink.

2. I think we are hung up because we are political wonks who get off on this stuff
the VP will share the ticket and should bring something to the campaign.

4. He needs to reveal his pick and let that person GO ON THE ATTACK
This has been one of the worst weeks ever for Obama -- thanks
to Bomb Bomb's "resurrection" at the "Faith Forum" and continuing
attacks -- and if he's not in the position to fight back, then
he needs to reveal who his VP ATTACK DOG will be so that person
can begin "clearing some brush."

5. LSparkle---I agree
Who cares about this "game". Don't waste a day. Get a pit bull out there a.s.a.p. because in the last few days there has been a lot of red meat lying around. No one will be around on Saturday of the "masses" group. If you want to promote the convention you do it, like today, in order to make the evening news. If your boat springs a leak, you look how to save yourself quick and not wait until you think the camera crew will arrive and hope people will really want to see it on the news. Sometimes people just start walking away and say...yeah..whatever...........

9. I've literally watched the polls SINK this week while we're waiting for the VP
I've heard the Olympics are to blame, that they're trying to "maximize
press coverage," yadda yadda yadda. I'm beginning to wonder if Obama
really THINKS he doesn't need any more experience on the ticket, that
he can pick someone he's comfortable with (Tim Kaine) versus the guy
who can help reassure some voters who still think he's an unknown
commodity. In the meantime, WE'RE BEGINNING TO LOSE THIS ELECTION.

HE NEEDS EXPERIENCE. HE NEEDS JOE BIDEN. He needs to realize this
thing isn't in the bag -- TOO MUCH CHANGE IS NOT GOING TO WORK; he
needs an experienced person as his #2.

6. If the VP is not Clinton, Obama is doing the smartest thing possible.
Because the media is going to immediately harp on "Why not Clinton?"

The Republicans will try to make this a huge issue.

By announcing on Sat, he minimizes this story. He cuts the story off.

And that's the right call.

7. I doubt the media will do that. Besides, we will probably find out tomorrow with the formal
introduction of the two of them together coming on Saturday.

10. We got burned bad with Leiberman
It's hard to imagine what would have happened, and now Edwards.
It's no wonder we pay attention now.
