Michelle's speech tonight was very moving
Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 11:37 PM by CreekDog
In particular, her way of introducing herself was to tell us not about herself, but instead to tell us the things she cares about and the people she is grateful for. I admired how at ease she was and how she seemed like a natural, friendly and humble and most of all, grateful person. And I got choked up thinking that a generation ago, the kind of success she has earned, would not have been possible save for a miracle.

I'm not sure just what was so moving about the speech, but in watching the audience, I knew I wasn't alone in being moved by what she said.

Tonight I am proud of my party for being on the right side of one issue, the issue that is the darkest side of our history. I'm proud of my party for being on the right side. If this is the only thing the Democrats ever have gotten right, it will have all been worth it, because it allowed entire groups of people to have dignity previously denied.

1. Thanks for that reminder.
Michelle Obama and I are the same age, and the doors of integration were opening for both of us at the same time. So many of my peers walked, ran, sprinted through those doors. I tend to forget that if I'd been born 10 years earlier, they would not have been open.

Affirmative Action was an amazing American "experiment". I hope that the country has learned that the Barack and Michelle Obamas do exist and that our nation would be deprived of their talents, brainpower and energy if those doors had not been opened.

During tonight's convention speeches, Jim Leach (R) spoke about the fact that there were both Democrat and Republican presidents who took the high road to open the doors of integration. It wasn't just one party.

I was surprised to hear a Republican speak during the Democratic National Convention, but I was also pretty impressed with what he had to say.

I thought she did a fantastic job. She was warm, real, passionate and just amazing.

I love Michelle now. Shame on Hannity and Larry Johnson for smearing such a wonderful person.

6. Same here...Michelle and I have something in common
Both of our Dads were diagnosed with MS in their early 30s, and we've both watched it as it progressed. In a way, I feel like I understand her better now. It's a unique experience.

:hi:
