Coming Next Week (to a Theater of the Absurd Near you!)
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 01:57 AM by NanceGreggs
Well, this is going to be interesting. Next week, we will all have the opportunity to watch the Republicans try to convince the average voter that:

The jobs you see disappearing, the store-fronts you see boarded-up, the fact that your neighbors are out of work is all a figment of your imagination – because the economy is stronger than ever!

If you have concerns about your wages going down while your cost of living is going up, it’s not because you recognize the truth – it’s because you’re a whiner!

You don’t need healthcare insurance, because you’re committed to staying healthy – and if you’re sick and/or dyin’, you shouldn’t be a drain on the rest of us!

Our success in Iraq is an overwhelming reality - and if you don’t see that, it’s because you’re stupid enough to to believe you’re lyin’ eyes and ears instead!

All those hard-luck stories you’ve been hearing from your life-long neighbors and friends about how the vets in their families aren’t getting the help they need are just lies – because some people will say the most outrageous things just to get attention!

John McCain – with his seven houses, private family jet, and multi-millionairess wife – is an average Joe, while Obama is an out-of-touch elitist!

So your pension is gone and your savings have been wiped-out – what’s more rejuvenating than having to start all over again when you thought that at your age, a comfortable retirement was your only option!

The oil conglomerates are posting record profits and are still getting tax subsidies funded by your tax dollars – and the Democrats are trying to tell you the American Dream is dead!

So you can’t afford to send your kids to college – think of the money you’ll save by not educating them for jobs that are going to be outsourced anyway!

The past eight years spent creating unprecedented debt isn’t a sign of fiscal irresponsibility – it’s a sign of a much-needed and imaginative devil-may-care attitude towards the management of the country’s finances!

George W. Bush’s administration isn’t an example of behind-closed-doors secrecy – it’s a model of none-of-the-citizens’-business government in action!

Constitution, Bill of Rights, rule of law, yadda, yadda, yadda – isn’t it time to throw off the restraints of the past and move forward?

The Democrats are offering a return to democracy – we can’t afford to let radical ideals (e.g. no-taxation-without-representation) take hold among the populace!

Eighty percent of Americans surveyed think the country is on the wrong track – where’s the survey that says they don’t think that’s a good thing!

Our standing as a world leader has been greatly diminished during the Bush Administration – who’s ever proven that we really need allies! Global respect ain’t all it’s cracked up to be!

The past eight years have been GREAT for everyone – and if you didn’t notice that, you obviously weren’t paying attention!

Our candidate, John McCain, was a POW – that’s more than enough to win an election!

As always, GOP – good luck next week!

I’m sure the unemployed, the uninsured, those who have lost their pensions and their savings, those who have seen their houses foreclosed on and their jobs outsourced to cheaper labor markets, those who will have to choose between buying food and heating their homes this winter, those who are forced to decide between spending money on life-saving medication and enough gas in the tank to get to a job to pay for that medication will be breathlessly awaiting to hear what you have to say.

Oh, and one last piece of advice: Stick a fork in yourselves - you're done.

Buh-bye!!!!! :hi:

5. Well, maybe you're just too young ...
... or too naive to notice, Heather, but people who are unemployed, uninsured, and have a foreclosure notice nailed on their front door have a tendency to be less than interested in war and Democrat-bashing than they did when they were employed and solvent.

But, as always, your concern is duly noted.

8. Armed with a great sense of humour ...
... as all Democrats seem to be, it WILL be a four-day comedy fest, won't it?

I can't wait to hear (surprise!) keynote speaker Osama Bin Laden explain how everything that happened under the Republicans is actually the Democrats' fault!

9. I am looking forward to them trying to talk about anything good
from the last 8 years.

Its probably going to be one of the most negative conventions in history.

Rachel and KO are going to have a field day. Its going going to be awesome!

16. You Have Outdone Yourself, and Summarized the GOP Playbook to a T!
This is the most memorable, eternal truth of this election and the past 8 years.

I wish we had awards for such clarity!

17. RNC convention teaser on MSM
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 06:52 AM by janet118
Tense martial, vaguely patriotic music plays. Begin montage focus group tested to produce feelings of fear and patriotism

Watch as the we praise the GOPsters every move!

Watch as our herd of gasbags rave about every golden word that falls from a Republican mouth!

Watch as the war stories about POWs bring lots of wrinkly white guys to tears!

Watch as the patrioids sing along to the National Anthem with their right hands placed over the area where a heart is supposed to be!

Watch as we show "gaffes" involving Barack Obama's name on a loop!!

Watch as the giant head of Ronald Reagan appears and washes away all memory of the disaster that was the Bush administration!!

Watch the Republican Convention . . . America's Convention . . . Our Convention!!

Fade to single flag waving in breeze
