McCain Expected to Announce Running Mate Today
Bay News 9) -- With the Republican National Convention just days away, presidential candidate Sen. John McCain is preparing to introduce his running mate to the public.

Speculation about the possible choices is running rampant, with several names tossed around as likely candidates. Sen. McCain is expected to put the speculation to rest on Thursday.

Bay News 9 political analyst Gov. Bob Martinez said he thinks six politicians from around the United States are at the top of McCain's list. Among the six, he said he thinks Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is the front runner.

The anti-change. The "safe" choice. Familiar. Replaceable.

43. I stuck with "Mrdogontheroofjerk"
I'd like to tie that twit to a roof and see the USA with my cheverolet.

I think McCain announcing today may backfire - why announce on Obama's big day? McCain may find out that he isn't really as important as either all the flash of the DNC or as interesting as all the excitement and speculation about Obama's speech. His choice will get announced, and then bam, some big or interesting bit of news will come from the democrat side, and McCain will be yesterday's old newspaper re this vp choice.

Maybe he is making a real bad pick and needs the cover?

45. How can you not call him Mittens..
it's a great nickname, lol. I bought a b-day card at CVS and it had a kitten sitting in a dog bowl. The card said, "Mittens likes to live dangerously." It was cute but the first thing I thought of when I saw the name Mittens was Romney. Anyway, I agree...Biden would destroy Romney in a debate.

7. Maybe today, maybe not. He's playing the press to overshadow DNC
Since McCain doesn't have any issues or platform to stand on, all he's doing is trying to disrupt, trip up, overshadow, and misdirect attention from Obama's campaign.

They're trying to create a media buzz about their VP like Obama had.

24. Nope.
He's basically a steaming pile of FAIL.

I'm not a praying person but if I were, I'd pray never to see his mug again after November 4th. I really can't stand the guy now, and I never hated him back in 2000. He wasn't my cup of tea, but I never had this absolute, burning hatred of the guy and everything he stands or DOESN'T stand for. I've had my fill of him, forever. He should seriously go retire in one of his seven houses, get some gardening done, I don't know, run up the credit card with Cindy... anything but politics.

9. Yup. This Afternoon.
Indeed, McSame will make sure his pick leaks by this afternoon. The radical Republicans will hope that before and after Obama's speech the pundits will go right to talking about the veep pick.

It's a cheesy, rather petulant tactic ... and it might work, at least to some degree.

Therefore, it is up to Obama supporters to bombard the press as soon as the name leaks pointing out McSame's ungracious and boorish scheme.

he should wait until tomorrow. None of his options are interesting and almost all of them will do more harm than good.

On top of that he will see very little press today as opposed to announcing tomorrow.

Thusly, Cheney gets his free pass on the negatives while he would have had to campaign for the previous 18 months.
