My wife, 14-yr-old daughter, and I have had the best time this week watching C-SPAN in prime time
A teenage Q & A session every night - uninterrupted by bickering pundits.
She can't wait to vote for Obama in 2012 - she made an Obama 2012 shirt with a sharpie to wear to school today.

Can't wait for tonight!
=)

1. I agree that C-SPAN's been great
this week, and that's what I've watched. No spin or chatter-gab from either side during it, they just point the cameras and roll. Of course, sometimes there are some pretty far-out callers afterwards, but at least you don't have to put up with it during the time you're trying to watch the proceedings.

3. My son was 15 during the 2004 election and we watched the convention and debates together.
It was a wonderful time together to talk about values and our political beliefs. This time around, he is watching with his new friends at college, and I have to say we miss having him here but I feel he has a good foundation. This spring he cast his vote in the primaries for Obama and will vote for him this fall.

Your daughter will remember the time you've spent with her and will be a better citizen due to your efforts to involve her in the political process. Enjoy, because the years fly by.

5. Watch-out! They say C-SPAN can get to be an "addiction".
Lucky you, having your daughter close to help and share with! Mine is grown and living in another part of the country. We always talked about E - V - E - R - Y - T - H - I - N - G and she is a successful young business owner now.

Being there for those Q & A sessions, modeling how to think, and showing respect of a young person's mind is what builds adult relationships.

I have to say, I'm a little envious.

6. My parents always watched the conventions with us kids...
...and that was back in the 60s. It was just one of those big events on TV we always gathered around to watch, like the Oscars or Miss America contests.

I recall not understanding everything and having lots of questions, but my folks and older brothers always explained things to me.

I credit those times with my fervent interest in politics today.

Congrats on having these historic events to share with your daughter!

8. My 15yo daughter is right by my side while I watch and/or read DU

and is forming very well defined and supported political views. She's excited that she'll be voting in the next Pres. election.

She's taking an AP Poli Sci course this year in HS and if she gets a 95 or above on the final, she gets 6 college credits for it! She was psyched to get her syllabus and find that it's required viewing to watch the debates and then write a 'reporter's view' of each. She also has to research and pick a state to 'represent' in class debates.

Mom's looking forward to those homework assignments. Yup!!!
