McCain's solution to health care: Hospital Emergency Rooms.
John McCain's solution to those who have no health insurance...

John Goodman, president of the National Center for Policy Analysis, a right-leaning Dallas-based think tank. Mr. Goodman, who helped craft Sen. John McCain's health care policy, said anyone with access to an emergency room effectively has insurance, albeit the government acts as the payer of last resort. (Hospital emergency rooms by law cannot turn away a patient in need of immediate care.)

"So I have a solution. And it will cost not one thin dime," Mr. Goodman said. "The next president of the United States should sign an executive order requiring the Census Bureau to cease and desist from describing any American – even illegal aliens – as uninsured. Instead, the bureau should categorize people according to the likely source of payment should they need care.

"So, there you have it. Voila! Problem solved."

1. Fuck him!
Too many people already use the ER as a primary care provider, which only serves to dilute care and threaten the lives of those who need truly urgent, time-critical care! We're already running our asses off here in the ER!

As someone said earlier in another thread: fuck him beyond his grave!

2. The ER is not set up for people with chronic conditions
An ER is set up to treat peope in emergencies, like a heart attack, for instance, not to diagnose and treat the high blood pressure or high cholesterol that may lead to a heart attack.

It's not set up to address someone who needs blood pressure medicine prescribed or changed, or who needs their diabetes monitored.

ER care is considerably more expensive than preventive medical care through regular checkups. But most people need insurance coverage to get checkups and regular treatment of chronic conditions.

Leave it to the Repukes to offer a solution that's the most expensive and wasteful approach possible.

3. Yeah, make the uninsured invisible. Typical Republican solution.
Just pretend the problem doesn't exist.

4. This is pure insanity.
These people are just disgusting. I can't even comprehend the amounts of crack this guy must have smoked before he shat out this gem. Redefining the problem does not solve a damned thing.

:argh:

7. HTH is the CENSUS Bureau supposed to follow an individual's INCOME history?!?!
And P.S. "Illegal aliens" by definition aren't "Americans".

8. "it will cost not one thin dime"
sums up 20 years of republican politics.

To this point, his "health care plan" has consisted of "tax breaks" ... These AHoles spew tax breaks as the solution for EVERYTHING, but could the media take the time to put just ask, how do tax breaks help the overwhelming majority of americans who CAN NOT AFFORD HEALTH CARE that, you know, don't have the INCOME to pay taxes in the first place?

9. And this is the genius that helped McCain on his health care plan?
How is anyone who makes this statement halfway qualified to be contributing anything to our health care debate?
