watch the gop convention and had to turn it off due to gag reflex and haven't been back.
The gopundits ragging on the columns at the Mile Hile Stadium tonight didn't bother to rag on the purple bandaid boobs at the rnc convention in 2004..another example of why I haven't tuned them in since 2002 except through the DU and TDS filter.
I've watched every GOP convention in my adult life with the exception of 2004 - the Bush/Cheney fearmongering was just too much to stomach.
But knowing what they're up to is an important indicator and conventions are still pretty important in influencing voters. For instance, in 1988 I knew Poppy would win because the old criminal was handed a good text and - for the only time in his life - actually delivered it well. And I knew in 1992 that Clinton would win because of the Republican's scary social extremism run amok.
The debates are important too, but a convention sets certain markers for the campaign to come. I think you should watch as much of it as you can stand.
