Several McCain advisors, including Lindsay Graham, are pushing Joementum for VP
The prospect of a slightly earlier announcement has some Republicans worried that McCain has settled on Sen. Joe Lieberman., They assume that the campaign would not risk the bad form associated with jumping on Obama's night if McCain announces a traditional pick, such as Gov. Mitt Romney or Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

Several McCain advisers, including Sen. Lindsey Graham, are actively pushing for Lieberman. Others, including many top fundraisers, are hoping that McCain chooses Gov. Mitt Romney. A smaller faction that includes some of McCain's longest-serving advisers believe that Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota would be a better pick.

5. I think you're right, but
this might also pull the support of a lot of uninformed independents, falling for the maverick, bipartisan sham.

8. He's a socio-cultural liberal loon by conservative standards
It would actually be healthy for the country for McCain to be seen as standing up to the extreme right wing of his party, and it would be political suicide.

13. Let me paint DU a picture of what would happen with a McCain/Lieberman ticket
McCain's polling numbers would drop at least 15 points overnight. No exaggeration there. Those people won't go to Obama by more than maybe one or two points, but you can expect Bob Barr to hit double digits, he'll have the kind of polling he'll need to get into the debates.

I can easily see a poll soon after his selection of Obama 50%, McCain 30%, Barr 10%, All others/undecided 10%.
