14. Obama's backdrop will be columns. The RNC is already calling the stadium "the arena for the gods"
or something similar, and of course, the media seems to agree and is asking every Obama supporter about his choice of "optics." :eyes:

40. RNC...MSM...they are concerned, and they are trolls...
I'd love to ban them, send a granite cookie, an extra large Tombstone.

This is the most shallow attack yet and will really only play to those who have no intention of voting for Obama.

Any voter who's really so undecided that columns are going to make a difference is going to forget this in a week or two.

It's most entertaining!

48. Good, let's give Mike a raise. Geeze, columns, columns, columns,....
They're used on post offices and train stations, too.

Who does he think he is, f'n postmaster general, or the "grand conductor"???

There's a Marriott Courtyard somewhere in Fairfax county with large white columns and windows, just like Invesco Field.....hmmmm

What would THAT make him?

File under "Department of This Is How It's Done."

"I know that Sen. McCain and his people have been shooting barbs about the 'opulence' of our convention from the mountaintop at Sedona at the McCain estate. I don't think it warrants a response." - David Axelrod

Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 01:57 PM by dbonds
Isn't his living there like oil and water. That place if extremely new age. There is one small part that is a cowboy movie tribute, but the rest is all energy vortexes. Maybe someone should ask if he believes in new age religions. Ask him about his tarot collection or how many wicca circles he has attended.

Pssst, you know John McCain lives in a community of witches.

23. I watched a bit and I know exactly what you mean
obsessing over the columns is ridiculous (OTOH in my view they are ugly and rather tacky). What I find even more ridiculous is the oft repeated question as to whether a more "intimate" setting would have been better for BO to "connect with the voters". Convention acceptance speeches are not meant to take place in an intimate living room, are they?

63. Whoever built Washington in the 1700s built it using greek symbols
and columns. That was a choice made way back when to go classical and democratic (since the greeks had the first democracy with slaves and the USA had the second one). So I think this is more Lincoln Memorial than anything else. Quit calling it greek. It is classical American.

If he'd set this speech up to be to a hand picked group of average Americans in a plain venue, they'd say "he's pandering in hopes of winning back regular Americans!"
