Ah, the New York Post is in fine form these days...
Let's start with their logo for their coverage of the DNC: a cartoon portrait of a donkey made to look like a dimwitted hick, complete with straw farmer hat, vapid grin, and eyes that are ever-so-slightly crossed.

The Daily News has Bill Clinton on the cover; the Post has a picture of the columns of the still-unfinished set Obama will speak at tonight, with plenty of snide comments about Greek Gods and hubris. That's not an editorial--that's on the front cover. At least Hillary was on yesterday's cover--along with a caption saying "Hillary damns Barack with faint praise."

Inside, a caricature showing convention disunity--Hillary vs. Obama, Dem vs. Dem--that must have been drawn last week, since there was absolutely no evidence of it yesterday.

And let's not forget the infamous Letters to the Editors section, wherein contributor after contributor gives their unbiased, professional opinion that in spite of her speech, Michelle Obama must truly despise America.

It makes me happy to report that, while the Daily News papers were mostly sold out, there were plenty of Posts left on the rack. But that just might be my neighborhood...

2. I still don't know why they endorsed Obama during the primaries
They pretended to like Obama only to wait and slaughter him during the GE. It was to be expected.

4. Because they hate the Clintons even more, of course.
Hell, I remember a Post article comparing Bill and Hillary's marriage unfavorably to that of Fred Thompson and his trophy wife.

Well, that worked out well for them...

3. They're both horrendous but the Post is slightly more blatant.

The sad thing is that most NYers cannot distinguish the fact that what's in the Post is not "news" but advocacy.

I'm not exaggerating; that's literally true.

6. In the end, though, it won't matter, because Obama will win New York without a doubt.
Still, though, it pisses me off every morning.

5. That's how they sell papers.
I'm not even remotely surprised that the Post did that. Sensationalism is an institution for the paper, regardless of which way they lean. I remember a way over the top cartoon of Newt Gingrich they ran (in diapers no less) that commented on the total fit he threw sitting at the back of Air Force 1. Damn funny, I bought a copy that day. But I knew, it was crass, shallow and piss-yellow. But that's the Post, they've always been like that in my memory. The only difference now, is that instead of being equally yellow to both sides, the lick the balls of the GOP while crapping on us.

7. Isn't that Murchison's rag? (I'm on the west coast)
If it is, I recall it ran a full page cover photo of Eric Clapton's dead son. People were aghast.

8. NYP makes Fox News look like the NY Times.
Imagine if Michael Savage got to edit a newspaper. Just disgusting.

Sometimes they have guys handing out free copies in Union Square. My usual reaction is "Still overpriced, buddy!"

11. Of course.
The Wall Street Journal is propaganda for the ownership class, the Post is propaganda for the working class, and FNC is propaganda for people who don't read.

10. The New York Post made a reference to Greek Mythology?
I didn't even think those bastards are beyond functionally illiterate.
