RNC sending a "large group" of young people to downtown Denver wearing togas

http://blogs.abcnews.com/liveblogging/2008/08/toga-toga-toga.html

1:25 pm MT: The games have begun: The Republican National Committee is alerting reporters to the fact that a "large group" of young people are headed to a downtown Denver hotel dressed in togas -- calling attention to the "Temple of Obama" at Invesco Field.

Probably an irresistible image to include in today's coverage.

reminds me of 2000

8. It is not the American People who are lame, it is the GOP OPERATIVES who are shoveling this Shit
The GOPers know exactly what the imagery is -- Democracy, Washington DC etc.

They are simply demonstrating their willingness to SAY ANYTHING. And the media is demonstrating their willingness to PROMOTE it rather than tell them that they insane.

Is anybody taking these kind of things seriously? Are we supposed to be afraid of THIS? This is almost beginning to seem like the whole anti-French "Freedom Fries" nonsense the RW spewed around the time Bush invaded Iraq. They seem to be quite good at these kind of juvenile stunts (which is exactly their mentality, of course).

The semester is starting at many colleges and there are going to be toga parties filled with drunken students. McCain's goons are obviously planning on taking advantage of their impaired state to round them up onto buses and send them to denver. They are but innocent pawns in this game.

18. Reminds me of Kerry's downtown Cincinnati event in spring of 2004
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 03:02 PM by VolcanoJen
A bunch of GOP pukes showed up, and got spots right down front. Mid-speech, they took their flip-flops off and started waving them in Kerry's face.

It was a disgusting display and Kerry called them "rude" and "rather stupid."

Best part? The field near the river was muddy as hell. And as the speech ended, a bunch of us around this crowd grabbed the flip-flops out of their hands and flung them far, far away. It was hysterical. I remember one girl whining about "I'm supposed to walk back to the car through the MUD!!!!!" We were laughing at her and she was very, very upset.

Sometimes you just gotta stand up to these asswads. :-)

75. Here's the voice of today's Republican Party
Actually, some schmuck posting as "usawhiteguy" in the comments:

"Since the beginning of his campaign, Obama sounds like a tearsheet from a Marxist playbook, from class warfare to nationalizing the oil companies, and punishing Americans who shows any sign of wealth and really tax them hard to teach them a lesson . . . yeah, this is his version of the "Amercian" way. So tonight will I be suprised if he walks out from his temple pillars wearing a brown shirt with a bright armband and marching with a kick-step in "jack-boots". . . ? No, I would expect it! The question I have, if Obama becomes President will the White House be too white for him and Michelle, or will that "change" also? The bottom line is one of the real changes you will see after Obama taxes you for being successful, will be the change left in you pocket and he'll probably go after that too! WAKE UP AMERICA! The news media hasn't!"

Racist and stupid, too. Go figure.

78. Four years ago, right after Kerry's acceptance, I saw "Flipper" dolphins at a Kerry rally ...
... Two grown humans, dressed as giant dolphins, wearing signs saying "Flipper the Flip-Flopper" ... I yelled at them to GET A REAL JOB!! That shit drives me crazy.

Well, they don't call fall politics the "silly season" for nothing.

Those little repugs probably look like Bluto Blutarsky in their togas! Lamey McLame!

ridiculous than a bunch of pasty chickenhawks half-dressed protesting something that the public had no knowledge of?

Please, please, please, let ther be video! There just HAS to be!
