Poll-Watch: Big Convention Bounce for Obama?
Posted by Joshua Holland, AlterNet on August 28, 2008 at 4:21 PM.

As Steve M. over at No More Mister Nice Blog points out, there's been quit a bit of hand-wringing about the degree to which the Democratic Convention is moving Obama's campaign forward. But according to Gallup's daily tracking poll, the head-to-head numbers have swung 8 points in Obama's favor in the past 3 days, and the senator now leads by 6 points nationwide.

4. Down by 2 going into the convention...
and already a 10 point bounce. I think Barack is going to bump it another 5-10 points tonight.

8. Look at the daily results instead of the 3-day average
McCain was behind all days except Saturday, for which he had a 5-point lead. Easily explained by all of the anxiety on Friday about his V.P. pick. Yesterday it was 54-39 though. That's likely to continue tonight and another 5 points will be added to the lead.

7. Keep in mind...
These numbers are a 3-day rolling average from before Bill Clinton and Joe Biden's speeches, as well. Tomorrow's numbers may well blow this away...

9. Also keep in mind that Cheney and Bush are speaking at the GOP convention Monday, as Gustav hits N.O
I think we need to plaster the "Birthday Cake" photo everywhere we possibly can

I only wish Gustav was named George
