The Obama campaign has to avoid saying "small town"
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 04:15 PM by goodgd_yall
when criticizing Palin's experience. They need to spell out what the concern is, otherwise they'll get labeled, again, as elitist. The point is that Palin was mayor and councilmember of a town that did not have the complexities that a city has. It should be, I think, phrased in that way.

I've been hearing some talk about the "small town" part of the early Obama camp commment (Obama himself never said such a thing.)

1. Obama doesn't have anything to worry about.
McCain made this thing a wrap today.

5. You must have missed Obama's acceptance speech.
He can and will say what needs to be said in his own good time, in a place and manner of his choosing.

And when he does, Miss Wasilla 1984 had better hang on tight.

7. Oh, I heard it all right
I just think being too assured of victory might mean we get complacent and make a dumb, but serious mistake.

2. "Small town" doesn't mean stupid
Which is what McCain seems to believe.

6. Correct.......
For instance, I am quite sure that the mayor of Ely, NV is not qualified. And yes, my family is from Ely.

Population 4000, similar to Wasilla.

8. Just cautioning about how it could be spun
I know the reason that being mayor of a small town matters because it's not that challenging a job, compared to being a mayor of, let's say, Detroit. But if all people hear as a negative is "mayor of a small town," then the RW blather machine will repeat it and twist it as a put-down of small towns and say it adds further "proof" that Obama is elitist.
