Do you know what voting machine YOU will be using? I say we blast the
media with this article! It makes me sick to think we had over 3 years to deal with voter fraud and noone takes it seriously until now.

Consumer Report Part 1: Look at this -- the Diebold GEMS central tabulator contains a stunning security hole
Submitted by Bev Harris on Thu, 08/26/2004 - 11:43. Investigations
Issue: Manipulation technique found in the Diebold central tabulator -- 1,000 of these systems are in place, and they count up to two million votes at a time.
By entering a 2-digit code in a hidden location, a second set of votes is created. This set of votes can be changed, so that it no longer matches the correct votes. The voting system will then read the totals from the bogus vote set. It takes only seconds to change the votes, and to date not a single location in the U.S. has implemented security measures to fully mitigate the risks.

1. Voting machines
In my part of Maryland we had been using optical scanners which I thought were good (aside from having a Republican election judge look at my ballot once to see who I was voting for). Instead we are going to Diebold?

3. According to the article it doesn't matter what machine you use--the

results all go into THESE machines!!

Whether you vote absentee, on touch-screens, or on paper ballot (fill in the bubble) optical scan machines, all votes are ultimately brought to the "mother ship," the central tabulator at the county which adds them all up and creates the results report.

2. I just used our new media blaster to send the article to all posted links
In WI. I live in the Northern area and we still use paper optical scanners.

9. Good idea!
I'm going to do Illinois. We may be blue...but it's not guaranteed and I don't trust the GOP in this state (especially our county) at all! We have the big race with Obama and Keyes, dontcha know...can you imagine if Keyes won?

4. Our Senators and Congress(wo)men on both the national and state level
should have been protecting us against this WELL KNOWN AND WELL DOCUMENTED threat. Instead, all we ever hear from are a few voices in the wilderness. I am so mad and frustrated I can't see straight. It's almost as if our Democratic leaders have a death wish. Unfortunately they'll be taking the rest of US down with them, after * has another election fixed for him.

5. How can we ever know that the election results are the REAL results.
I agree with you, it's frustrating and depressing.

10. I think we'll know if * steals it. But we won't be able to prove it.
And even if we could it will be too late. The fascist coup will have been completed.

11. It really makes me wonder. But I don't think its anything other than
not wanting to alarm people, trying to think positively, and their pathetic fear of making Republicans mad!

6. We don't have machines, we just fill in the little circle.

7. The old-fashioned lever kind, and I like it that way!
In Warren, we use the old machines. I'm kind of partial to them, it's what I first used to vote. In Detroit, we had ballots that we connected lines, then fed them into the scanner. This was new in 2000, before that, we had butterfly ballots.
