Sorry I wasn't clear in my earlier post - I was on the phone when I posted that brief comment. If there's any bashing to be done, Kerry needs to stay above the fray. Bashing, in politics, is done by losers who have everything to gain and little to lose, like Bush.
However the way to do it is the way Kerry's already doing it. Kerry offers a stronger America. A more powerful America. An America that has the true support of the world. An America we used to have.
Note that he's not bashing Bush, which Bush would use to his advantage like he has many times in the past. He's letting Clarke, Edwards and others do the bashing for him, which is the way to go.
Here's what the thread starter said, "Point out that we are not safer since 9/11".
If Kerry says we're not safer since 9/11, he'll get trounced when Bush points to the new Department of Homeland Security, the PATRIOT act, the Taliban falling, the routing of Al Quaida in Afghanistan, the improved security at airports, the pre-emtive anti-terror arrests and prisoners in Gitmo, etc... he'll get to showcase his record and prove Kerry to be a liar, or at least he'll make it appear so.
Of course we're safer, we're just not safe enough.
And to remind the public that they are not safer is to keep them fearful, which is exactly what Bush's plan involves... the public need to be afraid because the more afraid they are, the more likely they are to keep Bush.
Frightening the public isn't to Kerry's advantage: making them feel like he would keep them safe(r) is the way to go, and he'll do that with a "stronger America", not with "Bush is weak and we're not any safer" - that just sounds like someone whining because they're not the president.
"Point out how even president says that we can't win this war
," - and since Kerry supported and the entire Congress voted to give Bush the discretion to go to war at his own choice in order to "fight terror", how much of a chump does that make Kerry out to be?
If Kerry mentions Bush's admission that the war on terror is unwinnable, Kerry needs to come out and say NO, Bush is WRONG, there IS a way to win, and here's how we can do it:
1/ Reaffirm the Geneva Conventions
2/ Release prisoners at Gitmo who are not a threat
3/ Support the investigation of Abu Ghraib and bring the force of law to all people who violated the Geneva Conventions
4/ Gain the trust and respect of our allies and other UN countries instead of dissing them and going it alone
5/ Address the root cause of people's discontent with America and make it good again
... and so on... this way, Kerry gets to speak positively and Bush gets to whine and play dirty.
