"We Can't Win The War On Terror" - The biggest gaffe of the campaign
And the Dem surrogates should be pounding this one home all week along. They should not let up, this phrase should be as familiar to Americans as "Swiftboat" by next weekend.

Not only should Kerry and Co. be pounding this home, McAuliffe and friends have to MAKE FUN of Bush for this. They have to REDUCE BUSH TO A SAD JOKE.

This kind of huge mistake doesn't come along more than once in a campaign.

USE IT. HAMMER THE BASTARD.

Also, it plays to the repukes advantage to focus on war on terror.

Edwards in Faux suggested that * was aiding and abetting the enemy with his regrettable comment that we cannot win the war.

Because our campaign has missed opportunity after opportunity, this one will be no different.

8. Bush implodes whenever he let's any moron ask him a question
This week we can't win the war on terror and Iraq was a catastrophic success and Bush wasn't aware of his own administrations findings on global warming. Ane the NYT this week is reporting Bush is taking a more active role in the administration. This guy is a disgraceful clown.

10. Kerry & Co.
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 06:44 PM by Tamyrlin79
are too stupid to use it, though... They will run a "positive campaign" if it kills them (which it very well may).

Kerry needs to learn this lesson: negative ads aren't "negative" if they are the God's Honest Truth, just as positive ads aren't "positive" if they are full of lies.

Somebody needs to use it... MoveOn, Kerry, somebody. It is too good an opportunity to miss. And if *Kerry* had said the same thing, can you imagine what Bush would be saying right now???

"Kerry has admitted that he can't win the War on Terror..." I can just see it now, plastered in ads and played thousands of times. Seriously.

Read the article! The Dems are going after this!

"Bush said we can't win the war on terror!" We are going to hear that about a thousand times between now and November 2!

11. Unless the US stops Israel's oppression of Palestine
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 06:46 PM by IndianaGreen
and forces Israel to give up the Occupied Territories, including Arab Jerusalem and the Golan, the swamp will not be drained and there will always be an ample supply of terrorists.

The same can be said for every day US troops stay in Iraq!

The biggest cause of terrorism is American foreign policy! Every bomb we drop, every embargo, every death squad we train, creates victims. Their survivors will avenge their deaths, and rightly so, in the same manner American patriots avenged the deaths of innocents in the film Red Dawn.

So until the day the Democrats and/or the Republicans stop feeding the recruiters of terrorism, we will see terrorism ad infinitum.

Like Al Gore said, we must drain the swamp!

17. US cannot win because the US cannot stop supporting Israel
Domestic politics demands that every US politician support our "special relationship" with racist Israel so, of course, we will never see an end to "terrorism" aka resistance.

No justice, no peace.

It is not just Israel, it is also our support of tyrants and the oligarchies that support them. From Hosni Mubarak in Egypt to Urribe in Colombia, and to the elites of Caracas, the US is complicit in crimes that our friends perpetrate on their people.

the war on terror was going. A lie is a lie; either he's telling a lie now or he was telling a lie then - he can't have it both ways - oh, wait, yes he can, always has.

18. You're missing the point
It doesn't matter whether he is correct or not.

HE can be portrayed as UnAmerican, pessimistic and a flip flopper all at once with these words.

This is about winning and running a campaign to win, not whether he's right or not.

If Kerry had said it, it would be on the lips of every Republican surrogate for two weeks straight.

16. My hopes aren't high.
Kerry's camp isn't quick to capitalize on such gaffes, and the Bush team is already all over the channels, spinning it into a positive. After all, the Bush team is well practiced at covering for their front mans many mis-steps.

Should it be Dubyas "Read My Lips?" Yes, along with a zillion other phrases he's uttered. Will it be? I'm not holding my breath.

What kind of Commander-in-Chief says you can't win the war shile the troops are on the battlefield? Can you imagine what smearing would be done if Kerry had said this. And by the way, isn't that aiding and abetting the enemy while at war?

27. CORRECTION - Bush said YOU can't win the war on terror!
Previously Bush has boasted in true cowboy fashion, "We're gonna get them." and "We are winning the war on terror." Now that he has discovered it ain't that easy, he says "You cannot win the war on terror."

Note that he subtly denies any responsibility by saying YOU cannot do something, rather than WE. He is a coward and a FLIP FLOP.
