They made a big giant graphic and projected it behind a widow:
SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
And bathed the audience is somber ripply blue light.
Widow thanked the people for their kindness. Nice, but one of those moments where you roll your eyes while applauding.
I was like...okay fine. She made her speech and it was a very moving sound-bite image worthy of a two-page Newsweek spread with the caption already obvious in the picture.
They're going to campaign on 9/11. They made graphics.
This is like all last week on the radio with Hannity -- it was almost a comedy routine where I'd flip to that channel and he'd once again say, "...and what about these Swiftboat Vets...TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY OF THEM and Kerry's calling them li--" (cut to NPR who were usually interviewing someone British about Al-Sadr)
Hopefully this was just the first day and they'll get 9/11 out of their systems. Giulani made glancing mention of the phrases "economy" and "health care" but whipped immediately past to something about how great it was that we're providing freedom and a way of life for the Iraqi people. I want to hear about US dammit.
