So where are the Democrat rebuttals?
when the DNC was being held, there was just as much news on the repukes rebuttal to what was going on in the DNC.

It was no accident there was not a Kerry bounce after the DNC.

I don't see the same thing now. Major news websites have nothing about a Democratic rebuttal. I'm talking CNN.com, MSNBC etc..

1. I emailed both CNN and McCain to complain bitterly last night...
Not that I expect it to make a difference, but it made me feel as if I did something. We will not watch CNN again!

7. Not watching them is the only way to make a difference.
I'd like to see a massive boycott of this media by Dems. There are more of us than there are of them. And we are their source of money.

2. Well the major networks have not exactly
been fair to the Democrats. Could be they are saying stuff and its just not being covered. I'd be upset too if they are keeping their mouths shut and not saying anything (if this in fact is the case) but I think too often we tend to assume that because the news media isn't covering what a Democrat says its because there are no Democrats speaking and not because the media just doesn't think its worthy of coverage.

9. As evidence to the contrary, I posted a link a few days ago
with info on the web (from local media) about Edwards' many recent speeches, of which I had heard absolutely nothing on NBC and its affiliates, and CNN, and other DUers' posts indicated they also had heard little or nothing on the national media. This obviously was NOT a case of the Dems' not speaking but rather the failure of big media to cover it.

I agree with you that we should not jump to conclusions, but I think that the facts taken as a whole show that the problem is far more the first that you say, plus the media's failure to seek out comment, e.g., to invite Democrats to comment on the RNC just as they invited anti-Dems to comment on the DNC.

3. A sickening giant Bushco love feast- media isn't soliciting criticism now
Totally different strategy than the way they hammered Kerry and the Dems and solicited negative remarks from Repubs "in the interest of fair and balanced coverage" to counter the positive influence viewers might take away from Dem's convention coverage.

Instead they have stacked the decks with RWingers to bash Kerry and boost the Repubs with only a few select moderate Dems who provide only the faintest of criticism against Bushco and hardly any defense of Kerry.

Dems need to get on the ball and start hitting harder.

4. the Dems have no attack machine
We're not built, as a party, to attack. We're built to defend, we're a defensive party first. This stems from our platform, which is mostly aimed at preseving and defending already formed laws and regulations.

The Republicans want change, so thus they're built for attacking and changing the current system.

Its institutional and this problem will take longer than this election cycle to fix.

5. Exactly...
... Dems have to learn to say something that TV WANTS to show. TV doesn't WANT TO SHOW people talking policy because Americans don't want to hear it. TV wants to show DIRT BEING DISHED.

When are the people running our party and campaigns going to figure this out? It could not be more obvious. Taking the "high road" to failure is for suckers.

6. But the Dems do have a war room in NYC
just like the Repugs had one in Boston.

The diff?

CNN showed the Repug one every 10 seconds.

We don't even know the color of the walls in the Dem one.

The media is biased. That's why I'm leaving journalism. I can't stand it anymore.

10. Well, here are some of the headlines..
at CNN.COM:

Delegates mock Kerry with 'purple heart' bandages.

Crowd relishes McCain's jab at Moore.

Giuliani: Bush best leader.

Bush lauded as bold, decisive

Not ONE headline about a Democrat giving his point of view.

Liberal media? My F'ning Arse!

8. The cable news channels are all garbage
Since they are unfair I decided not to watch them either. They are a tool to misinform people and they work as Bush's PR. The few headlines about Kerry has some negative connotation to them as opposed to Bush's "strong leader after 911". It's sickening how this administration is NEVER questioned.

You can write all the letters you want but the only way to make a change is to boycott these channels. A huge chunk of FOX and CNN audience consist of people who dislike these channels and the only way to fight them is not to watch them anymore. Let them lose audience!

11. Can't have a rebuttal
When there were no Democrats "rebutting" anything during the coverage. None. Just rethugs and media whores.

It's up to the Dem's now to demand equal time or they really are fucking useless. Fight Back, goddamnit!

12. Our local NPR affiliate (KUT 90.5 FM Austin) did a great job
with getting some Democratic commentators on during the speeches. The did the same during the DNC with Republican commentators.
