Anyone besides me not watching the unnameable spectacle?
I have given up on News channels for the week - all my news will come from Washington Journal on Cspan, AAR, and the internet.

I tried tuning into MSNBC this morning and they had RNC Convention as the label so I switched briefly to CNN and saw Ed Koch speaking ( did CNN cover any daytime speeches at the DNC convention?).

I did get to hear part of Bill Clinton's speech at Riverside Church on cspan 2 this morning.

Anyway, anyone who wants to chat about non convention topics or even demonstrations in NYC, let's do it here!!

Plus, I don't want to barf all over the new couch or the freshly re-finished wood floors. Or the cats.

I was just over in my inbox tryin' to find my reciept for my Kerry/Edwards bumperstickers that I ordered July 29 and they haven't got here yet. So I just sent them an e-mail and said "What's Up?" "I'd like to get that Sticker on my car!" :D

I did look over and see Michael Moore, so I had to backup my Tivo to see what that was about. The pukes were booing, and Moore was bowing, McAsshole was saying something about a disingenuous filmmaker making pre-war Iraq look shiny and happy, what a fucker. I turned it back down very quickly. I used to like John McCain, and now I can't remember why.

Fuck them all, dumbass numbnuts.

Our convention looked much better.

38. I am watching it for comedic relief, and so far, I have not been let down.
A while ago, Dick Cheney and his old lady came in, and the Convention started playing what sounded like a Negro spiritual with Black women harmonizing, from the slavery days by the sound of it. One of those old timey type tunes. Then, with the audience politely clapping but not really cheering or happy to see him at all, he winds his way around the room and finally finds one kind of old Black guy, shakes his hand like it is all about HIM (Black guy looks puzzled, but shakes his hand), then finds a place and sits down. I liked to died. I laughed till I cried.

So now I know why the GOP likes Dick Cheney-he is their new champion for the Black vote! They think Dick Cheney will deliver the Black vote!

McCain is on now, and Michael Moore is laughing at him. McCain gets the crowd to boo at Moore...cheap shot. McCain thinks the war is a cool deal, evidently forgetting what a shitty deal he got out of Vietnam. He thinks we should fight because we are Americans, and let Bush lead us because, well, I guess because he is an American, too...or something.

Earlier, on MSNBC, they said the whole purpose of the convention, is to convince everyone Bush is in the echelon of leaders who were right about needing to fight, when their constituents didn't want to...like Churchill. Now tell me that isn't a hoot.

Oh no, I am watching this...it is hilarious. But I will say this much, the whole thing is much more reserved than ours was...they are praying now, and some guy is singing "Amazing Grace". I guess they are trying to bring back the feeling of just after 911. Cynical bastards.

42. Yeah, me too.
I was listening to Air America and Pacifica (WBAI) on the net and the radio, and my husband came home from work and turned on the TeeVee. I heard a few snips of McCain's speech and the 9-11 thing and then they started singing "Amazing Grace" and he drove me to head phones and Air America on the radio. All I can hear now is him shouting and laughing alternately. The little bit I heard gave me a headache, his constitution must be stronger than mine.

57. I had a guy in our co-op today who was in line to
check out and saw my Kerry/Edwards pin..

I knew from his tee shirt that said "God Bless America" that I had a bush supporter coming through and sure enough..he said, "I was looking at your Kerry/Edwards pin"..I said, "I know, I saw you"..he said, "so you don't like mr. bush"..me, "Nope!"...him, "he's more American than that guy(pointing to my pin)..I said, "Yeah, if you believe bush, but I don't"..and that was it..conversation over..still I was mildly shaken to be in the presence of real live stupidty and a danger to our Country.

Anyway..what kind of chickenshit is that?.."More American"? Trouble is I knew what the heck he was trying to say.."More Patriotic"? I thought of other things I might have said but at least I got the message in that I didn't believe a word bush says.

But I had a lot of really good people ask me where I got my Kerry/Edwards pin(off the internet)and we had good chats on how amazing it is that people don't know how bad bush is for our Country.

Like the chickens for for Colonel Sanders.

As I said on other thread I went out of town to a conservative area. I talked to my old friends Bushies and made some points then came back and made some phone calls to get volunteers to work passing out flyers this week at our subway bart the last two nights of the convention. It does make you feel better to do something and anything besides watching rnc convention. Daily show is good to watch at night and tonights is the first for the convention so it should be great.

Chip Reid of MSNBC was interviewing some right wing fundementalist nutjob who was some pastor and a South Carolina delegate. She blathered on about the importance of the anti-gay Federal Marriage Amendment and "preserving the sanctity of marriage". Blah, blah, fucking blah. Same old tired homophobic hate filled horseshit. I turned it off right after.
