Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a tumultuous day on several fronts
On Wall Street and Main Street and in the political sphere, today is going to be a humdinger. More bad financial news, lots of charges and counter charges between the campaigns. Things are really heating up. How it will all sugar off, I haven't clue, but it's going to be a wild ride from now to November 4th- and beyond.

3. The campaign stuff will continue as it has been. The market will be down a bit.
I think it's going to be a pretty average day.

If AIG has to file for bankruptcy protection on Wednesday, however, Thursday might be interesting.

4. At least the BofA and Merrill should work out OK but they still have to figure out how to

spread out Lehman and now AIG is a real problem. Guess interest rates may be reduced now out of all this mess. Palin will have to dig out her Cliff Notes on the economy if she is going to be allowed to speak on her own. The market still has a ways that it will have to go down before things settle down from all of this.

8. is lowering interest rates wise?
The effect of lowering interest rates is supposed to put more money in circulation. If people are taking more credit, doesn't that worsen things for WaMu?

My wife and I have already taken out our money from WaMu. Their stock is tanking. I predict they will get a 'delisting notice' by end of month. Their credit worthiness is junk, and they've already started shuttering bank branches. Its only a matter of time.

I know about FDIC, and insurance, but here's the thing: I want the freedom to get access to my money when I want it, not when some regulator says so. Because of that, I put my money elsewhere at a safer bank (I won't say where, as no one is paying me to advertise)

10. If they lower the interest rate, it is not going to have an effect on you and me so much, mostly
will have the effect on banks lending to each other, business loans, etc. Credit card companies probably will not lower their interest rate for you. So, it could help but there are different theories on it by different economists as always.
