Media Breaks Up With McCain

Media Breaks Up With McCain
byAri Berman
09/16/2008
The Nation

"We're running a campaign to win," McCain aide Brian Rogers said last week, explaining his campaign's increasingly dishonest attacks. "And we're not too concerned about what the media filter tries to say about it."

Now the "media filter" is hitting back. Washington Post columnist and onetime McCain booster David Ignatius wrote a scathing column on Sunday about the Arizona Senator entitled "Stopping at Nothing To Win."

Fellow Post columnist Richard Cohen--another onetime McCain ally--unveiled his contribution to the anti-McCain archive today, entitled "The Ugly New McCain."

And last night, Chris Matthews did an unforgettable interview with McCain economic adviser (and oil industry lobbyist) Nancy Pfotenhauer, linking Pfotenhauer to failed Republican policies. Under repeated questioning, Pfotenhauer wouldn't even say who she voted for in 2004. "I've never heard anything like this!" Matthews exclaimed.

You can watch Matthews interview with Pfotenhauer and read the complete article at:

2. I've got to call "BULLSHIT" ... MSM is in the tank for the conservative agenda
Until they start asking real questions to the real issues and holding McCain and Palin accountable to being specific in their answers .... I'm just not buying it.

3. McCain is following Hillary's campaign
Edited on Tue Sep-16-08 11:59 AM by rocknation
right down to her "I'm in it to win." Is he aware that she DIDN'T win? But then again, after picking a running mate guilty of everything he accused Obama of, why should we be surprised?

5. What's surprising is how long it took for the media to wake up and see the truth.
Remember how, even during the RNC, the media kept on talking as if McCain was still "honorable?" Remember that stupid reporter woman declaring that McCain "rarely talks about" his POW experience?

7. McCain should be portrayed like Bush: he ignores the "liberal media", meanwhile he misses important
economic news etc. "John McCain says the media is lying and unfair. Well John, tell Joe SixPack in Ohio that the media is lying about him being laid off, about the stock market falling 500 points. If the news isn't what John McCain wants to hear, he just pretends it isn't true."
