I Think We're Witnessing "The Dance"...
Okay I guess I should get in line to get my tinfoil hat fitted... :tinfoilhat:

The more I watch of McCain's campaign, the more I believe that this is a perfectly orchestrated dance by the Republicans to throw this election to the Democrats, in hopes of putting them in charge of cleaning up the mess that Bush created over the past 8 years. It will be a tough, if not impossible job, for anyone to fully clean up this mess in 4 years, and by throwing the election now, they give themselves ample opportunity to step away from the fray and put up a crazy and strong ticket in 2012.

I've thought this quietly for many months now, ever since McCain's campaign compared Obama to Britney and Paris. At first I thought I was just being a :tinfoilhat: or perhaps even a :dunce: but every step the McCain campaign makes is so perfectly orchestrated for failure that I am beginning to wonder!

First we had all the distractions. Then there was Sarah Palin, the crazy, unvetted candidate who, much ot everyone's surprise, is actually turning out to be more popular than McCain among the fundamentalist nutjobs.

I've heard the totally unverified rumors that McCain might let her go in the next couple of weeks, and if that happens, I am going to be even more certain that my :tinfoilhat: is warranted.

With the financial situation, however, I'm wondering if this wasn't even more well orchestrated than even I could realize. McCain's comments in print, this month no less, that he wants to do for healthcare what he did for the financial sector by deregulation. Bush's work steamrolling Paulson's plan. McCain almost perfectly flip-flopping, with each new position on the situation being exactly opposite than the last.

The crazy lies he makes up, it all points to a campaign that is trying to lose.

I'm not sure McCain is on board with trying to lose, but I do think that his campaign is tanking it for him, possibly telling him to change what he's saying constantly so he can't even keep it straight himself.

The media, in this for themselves, keeps trying to paint this race as being close, but even they are having a hard time propping up that view.

At what point will you be convinced that Republicans are deliberately tanking this election?

1. I hope they are tanking this election....

They need to heed the motto: "be careful what you wish for".

FDR took over a failing government in 1932.

It took the GOP 20 years to regain the White House.

Keep in mind the following: It is much easier for a new coach to follow a guy that went winless than a guy that went undefeated.

2. when Palin was chosen, I theorized that they are doing 5 things...
* slight chance of winning this round, and they have to nominate SOMEONE

* throwing a bone to religious right for their $$$

* increasing Palin's name exposure for future politics

* hoping the economy crashes and Romney or other can run on an economic platform in 2012

and

* increasing turnout in red and purple states - not enough to help McCain get electoral votes, but to help Senators and Reps.

6. (5) to save a few GOP legislators who would be hosed if the religious right stayed home
In Ohio, that would be OH-1 in Cincinnati, and OH-2, Mean Jean Schmidt's district just to the east of Cincinnati.

3. Hey. My tinfoil hat also seems to be on my head.
The thought that the repukes were going to toss this election had occurred to me a while back.
It is not totally inconceivable that they would create an even bigger mess on their way out..and leave it
to the Dems to clean up. Then in 2012, if it was till bad, they would claim the right to victory then.

The only possible solution is to make sure that this mess gets cleaned up so they cannot point fingers.
I would like to see the repukes to be out in the wilderness for at least 40 years...

4. I do not think this is tin hat material
I think that the only reason McCain got the nomination was to lose it.

5. What was tinfoil hat worthy a month ago...
Is pretty reasonable today.

This entire deal, economic crisis, election and all, was clearly orchestrated.

7. That's the key "economic crisis"...
Everyone *knew* something was coming. I think that Republicans have known for a long time exactly how this would all play out, and I think that they have done their best to make sure it came out at the worst time: the comments that were published about McCain seem almost too terribly timed to not be intentional.

I suspect McCain's handlers tell him to say different things in every discussion, and that they are keeping him too confused to do or say anything right.

If they get rid of Palin per the rumors, even to replace her with Romney, then it's officially Republican hari-kari.

I do hope Obama can pull us out of this misery and soon. I would love to see Republicans tank this, only to find themselves a "permanent minority".

I've always suspected McCain was a sacrificial candidate.

9. Tinfoil hat not required.

This is not crazy. I've thought this all along since the unenthusiastic republican primaries. Look at what they do: Clinton's success actually belonged to Reagan and Bush I...it all trickled down to Clinton. Clinton was responsible for 9/11. The absurd thing right now is that they can't decide whether to blame this stock market mess on Clinton or the last two years when dems were in charge of congress. The six years with Bush and republican congress had nothing to do with 9/11, the war, econcomy, etc. The fact is that things are so bad right now that it will get much worse before it gets better and will be extremely hard to fix. What could be better for them than to have a dem to blame. In fours years they think they can come back and EVERYTHING will be Obama's fault or Clinton's fault, with poor widdle georgie caught in the middle of disaster. Fine with me. I'll take my chances with Obama.

12. I never buy the "tanking on purpose" scenario
There is too much money to be made from having their own stooge in the White House. I just don't believe political operatives think long term like that. They want to win right now, they may not have seats at the table in 4 years. They want to win now, by hook or by crook. Mostly crook.

but, if past is prologue, the Democrats will bail them out; again.
