1. I saw this during
Morning Joke. Are the ads on cable stations national, or do they vary by state or region?

I was surprised to see any Obama ad running in Tennessee, so I assumed it was a national ad on MSNBC.

2. Y'know, we just might need the senior citizen vote this year
And running ads that make 70-yr-old look like a bunch of helpless geriatrics on death's door is probably not going to win em over.

I think this line of attack needs to go back to the drawing board.

7. It's not an attack.
It's a reality that needs to be pointed out.

I don't know about you, but the senior citizens in this age bracket that I know aren't so egotistical that they think that someone like them should or could be president. They care about the lives of their children and grandchildren.

8. Seniors will realize Recurrent Melanoma is very serious, and with a fundamentalist extremist
as his chosen successor, they will more readily recognize how real the danger is that she could assume the office before a first term was even finished.

His cancer has RECURRED FOUR TIMES. Seniors know how serious it is and mentioning that is just being honest. There are thousands of doctors who have signed on to ask that his records be released.

His health is a big issue for everyone.

Furthermore, seniors are more concerned than others that he might not be mentally sharp enough to handle the presidency.

12. Both my mother and father had cancer and were NOT senior citizens.
Do you believe only old people get cancer?

to get this ad taken off the air?

Did they do any focus groups with this one?

9. Why?
With Sarah Palin's numbers tanking, reminding people that having PRESIDENT PALIN is a very real possibility with McCain in office is a salient point, is it not?

20. Ageism will sink McCain to the bottom so long as
we don't appear ageist.

People are just not going to get excited and rally around a 72 year old candidate.

Unless we appear to be picking on him for being old.

Let age drag him down by itself.

Seriously. This ad will do more harm than good.

11. Sadly (and fortunately), they have freedom of speech. You can outargue them...
but it'd be wrong to shut them up just because we think they're message is obnoxious.

I don't happen to disagree with their message, but I do find it objectionable.

I suspect it will turn off more voters than it will persuade. It's certainly dumb politics as it will make it harder for President Obama to govern.

13. It's a very classy, somber ad...
...with a doctor doing the talking. It does not need to be taken off. Not only do people need to consider his physical condition but they need to question his judgement of having chosen a VP that wasn't the best possible person to take over.

Of course people, particularily old people, wills sympathize with him, but that doesn't translate into wanting him to have the highest office in the world.

Honestly....I think Palin makes women look bad and McCain makes old people look bad.

14. Seniors more than anyone know RECURRENT MELANOMA is very serious.
Many seniors do not want the extreme fundamentalist Christian VP to take over the office. Yet they know how quickly that could happen with cancer that has recurred FOUR TIMES.

The focus group for the ad was thousands of doctors who want to see his medical records. They also know that recurrent melanoma can metastasize into various organs of the body and is very serious.

Many doctors just DO NOT WANT A CHRISTIAN FUNDAMENTALIST AS PRESIDENT. Sorry. They value a separation between church and state.

He only allowed some reporters into a room with no cameras or recorders for a couple of hours with the thousand pages of records. That is not releasing his records.

My wife was a bit disturbed by it, but I think it's valid. Palin is too scary, people need to understand the health risks here.

it's offensive to senior citizens and those that have cancer survivors within their family...I just don't see the point.

18. How is bringing up the fact that McCain is not physically fit enough to lead this country
ANYTHING but the truth? This is important. You should NOT be President if your health is not up to par. That's not discrimination. That's just the facts. He's had melanoma more than once. This is serious.

19. It is not offensive to worry about RECURRENT MELANOMA when a Christian fundamentalist
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 01:03 PM by Overseas
has been place in the VP spot. It is a serious national security and foreign policy issue when McSame has placed an incompetent in the VP spot.

I don't think it would be offensive to seniors. They KNOW how serious melanoma is. They KNOW, as I know from family experience, how very quickly cancer can flare up and take someone away

and then we would be left with a CHRISTIAN FUNDAMENTALIST AS PRESIDENT.

That is far more offensive and dangerous to everyone who is not a Christian.

16. This is a VERY effective ad. It has people talking, and it's serious.
It's not attacking McCain, it's bringing up a VERY legitimate concern. This man is simply NOT physically fit to lead this country, especially with an unqualified moron in line to take his place. This should scare the shit out of people. I'm glad this is being brought to light, because this is the BIGGEST concern about a McCain presidency--that it will end up being a Palin one.

17. The American people need to think about this, we must let them know these facts.
A lot of people don't even know he had skin cancer, once.

Let alone four times.

We HAVE to ask people if they want him as President, knowing the risk he might die. Especially with that airhead Palin as his VP.

McSame won't release his medical records and people have a right to know these things!
God forbid we have Palin step in - as inept as she is!
