My friends.... it's the DEBATE PREP THREAD!!!
I don't think Obama will go for the kill tonight. He is going to take the high road "look Presidential" and let McCain take the chances and probably fail.

I would like to see Obama (if he speaks first) to lead with "My friends..." and every time McCain says it it looks like he is stealing Obama's line and it will highlight McCain's own trick.

So what are you looking for tonight???

1. I would like some true understanding of this financial crisis
and I would like to Obama to offer in his clear calm voice some solutions that would help the Middle and Poorer classes.

2. That depends on if they shift the focus from foreign policy.
What I'd like Obama to do is tie foreign policy to our economy. All too often they are treated as completely seperate topics when nothing could be further from the truth. He needs to talk about how the war is a giant boondoggle that is transfering your hard-earned money into the coffers of no-bid defense contractors who incorporate offshore to avoid taxes and oil companies. It's about the economy, stupid. Everything is the economy. The Iraq War IS the economy.

3. I want to see the following from Obama
- Use soundbites effectively
- Not hem and haw
- Bring some of his passionate oratory to his answers
- Be well prepared for any "clever" gambits by the McCain campaign
- Cite his qualifications and experience when answering
- Not praise McCain

and above all

- Keep his answers simple. Too, too often, Democrats (like Kerry and Gore) argued in a way that's nuanced and more suitable to those who are politically aware. Many people will be forming their views based on who is easier to understand and who doesn't seem to be hiding behind his words.

4. I would like to hear Obama link the word "Republican" to every screw-up...
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 02:00 PM by State the Obvious
...that has taken place during the last two terms of this "Republican" administration.

You know...how this "Republican" administration got us into this financial mess.

How "Republican" president George W. Bush, and "Republican" presidential candidate John McCain ate birthday cake during Hurricane Katrina.

How a "Republican" congress blind-sided every responsible Democratic legislation.

How "Republican'" George W. Bush and "Republican" Dick Cheney KNOWINGLY brought us into an unnecessary war in Iraq....etc.

Methodically make this link.....

Republican=Disaster
