Almost as good as an Obama win will be seeing the end of Joe Lieberman.
If we win just one seat in the Senate, Joe will lose his chairmanship and with an Obama win, he will be done. No one will give him the time of day or any air time.

I. Can't. Wait.

Poor Gore. To have his pick in 2000 be as bad as McCain's this year.

less than 40 days.

1. I still wonder if Gore picked him on his own initiative or because of outside pressure.
Anybody know?

7. The thinking at the time was
by picking him Gore was sending a signal that he was upset with Clinton's behavior (Lewinsky). Lieberman had given a speech on the Senate floor denouncing Clinton's actions. By tapping him as VP Gore could send that message without coming out and criticizing Clinton who was still very popular with some of electorate

10. yes, that's what I remember
I remember the rumored (or actual?) list of VP possibilities. I think there were 5. We talked about the other 4 for weeks. Someone would say "What about Lieberman" and the answer was "he's only on the list because he scolded Clinton about Monica. He's not a serious contender."

It was shocking when he was announced. We figured maybe some internal polling showed the Monica thing would hurt Gore and Joe would help so we went along with it.

He's been insane since 9-11 though. Most of my Jewish friends were too but they got over it a couple of days after I did, 9-12.

9. It'd probably be worth it, frankly.
Filibuster proof majority with Obama in the White House and control of the House? We'll get everything we could ever want done. Sucking off Joementum is a small price to pay for working off 12 years of republican damage.

11. It will be almost as sweet as defeating Rick Santorum and ...
George Allen in 06, along with conrad burns, dewine and talent. Joe's demise in the senate will be sweet indeed, very sweet, atleast until we can rid ourselves of him completely in 2012.
