I just wanted to point out that nobody in the MSM played clips of SNL mocking OBAMA last night.
They only played the part where MCCAIN looked bad and Obama looked smart and honest (like he is), responding to McCain's crazy requests.

1. I think it's because the Obama routine is so bad. They need to get
another comedian to play Obama. :dem:

10. The one funny part was the decent job mocking Obama's voice inflection
They really do need some fresh material on him though.

16. That guy bears a slight resemblance to Obama (especially the ears), but
his voice is WAY too high. I forget it's supposed to be Obama the minute he opens his mouth and starts squeaking.

2. Because their Obama sucks
even worse than their McCain.

Palin and Bill...other story. Tina Fey is actually having an impact on this election she's so scary good.

11. It's hard to make Obama good because he isn't as fucking moronic as McCain or Palin
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 10:11 PM by TheDonkey
so there is less to skewer. I think the SNL Obama was good with what material he is given.

14. True enough...where do you start with him from a comedic standpoint?
SNL gets it totally wrong, however, by trying to make him an empty suit. Overly idealistic and a touch pollyanna is the way to go. Obama is not an airhead, which is why their caricature sucks.

7. SNL Obama's Voice Is Way Too High, Not Believable
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 10:04 PM by Median Democrat
The comedian just does not do a good Obama. Look at the Jib Jab video. Now, this is a good Obama impression:

9. Yeah ...
I'm a fat, balding white guy and I could do a better Obama than Fred. My dog, a wee little pug named Elliot, could do a better Obama. That coffee stained paper towel hanging on the corner of my kitchen trash can could do a better ... well, you get the point.

8. Humor like that has to be based in some truth to work
The "Obama is a crooked politician" stuff is just out of left field. it isn't going to resonate with anyone because it doesn't ring true (except to the most hardcore freepers). It would be like if they portrayed Sarah Palin as a racist or something. People wouldn't find it funny because it isn't how she is viewed. It just looks like a cheap shot and it isn't funny.

12. Well, Obama is harder to make fun of too
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 10:20 PM by BreatheOnMe
Palin is clearly the easiest to parody. Obama is smart and knows what he is talking about so he doesn't provide a lot of funny material. Palin (and to a lesser extent McCain) provides endless amounts of material. Tina Fey was so funny this week but all she did was repeat what Palin really said. I bet most comedians would love 4 years of McCain/Palin, at least from a comedic material perspective.

13. Obama is not yet ripe for satire. The only way they can do it is if
they make him out to be a messiah of some sort. Sort of like they did with the primary sketches where they had media fawning all over him and offering him a pillow. lol

15. Obama is hard to mock.
He rarely makes gaffes. He's dignified and smart as hell. In short, that makes it difficult to parody him.

SNL is going to be in trouble when Obama gets elected. :smoke:
