McCain Advisor: Preparing Palin for Debate is "really hard."
Awwww....it's weally, weally hawd.....

"The adviser said preparing her for the debate was 'really hard' because the Alaska governor was learning about issues she had never dealt with before -- including those regarding North Korea and other hot spots around the globe."

4. Lowering expectations. I'm sure it IS hard, but they're leaking this for a reason.

19. I'm sure a lot of it is lowering expectations, but people, seriously?
Sarah Palin isn't an evil genius, and she's not going to suddenly shock everyone at the debate by being well-versed in foreign policy matters.

The Couric interview was a horrible glimpse into Palin's true nature.

5. So they are essentially conceding
that McCain chose a running mate who is not prepared to address the issues?

Of course everybody already knows that, but interesting to hear it from the horse's mouth!

6. By "dealt with", they mean "heard of"
No one says you have to have dealt with North Korea to be able to talk about North Korea.

Palin's problem is that she's never even thought about any of this before. It's like teaching a first grader about the world.

10. Thank you!
As you can probably tell by the pic in my handle, I have Samoyeds. On another forum recently, somebody asked "What is the decor of your home?" I responded with "Transitional/Contemporary, with dog fur accents."

23. Boy, did you hit that one today for me!
I just finished running the rug shampooer in my dining room and I think there was more black scottie fur than carpet in that room. Guess I should do the floors more than once a year and maybe that might not be a problem?

9. Why would an advisor say this? To get our guard down
I have no doubt that Biden will do fine, but she just might also, via sound bites

It all depends how the moderator runs the show

11. The 'Barbie Doll Strategy' crashed and burned....
No matter what the question is, you pull the string and Barbie provides a prerecorded answer which likely has no relevance whatsoever.

So now they are likely trying a different approach. I would guess they are giving her instructions on diversion and ignoring questions asked, and preparation of 'lines of attack' on the opponent to change the topic to one of contentiousness.

I expect Palin to be combative and to claim victory based on appearances only.

16. She won't be able to discuss any issue intelligently,
but I'm sure they'll have her loaded with some real 'zingers'.

12. This whole process seems to be a joke.
I could under go this type of cramming and do a credible job, but that in no way qualifies me for this job. This is learning by rote and allows for no insight into her own thought processes. The fact they admit she is dealing with issues she had never dealt with before contradicts their claim that she is qualified IMO.

20. Another Palin Joke
Sarah Palin's been spending the last couple of days being briefed by advisers on what she needs to know to be John McCain's vice president. That's true. Yeah. Apparently, the first thing they taught her was CPR." --Conan O'Brien

22. Classic lowering expectations bs
Edited on Tue Sep-30-08 10:27 AM by Strawman
So the lazy talking heads have an easy positive talking point: "She did better than expected."

These "debates" aren't debates. She won't be cross-emained or rebutted. She can shift her advocacy all over the place, dodge and change the subject.

And this is a former newscaster who won't have stagefright being on TV.

In this format she will come across alot better than she actually is.
